Ernestine [McClure] Costas
October 15, 1918 ~ June 21, 2008


Ernestine Costas, 89, of Tuttle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Tuttle. She was born on October 15, 1918 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was the middle child of seven daughters born to J. L. and Mary Lou McClure. Ernestine grew up in Shawnee where she graduated from high school in 1936. She later married George C. Costas and together they raised two children Kathy and Charles.

Ernestine, known as Mama to her family, accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a young age. She walked through life reflecting her love of God, her country and her family. She loved her sisters and their families dearly. She loved and took care of her children and grandchildren every day of her life.

Mama's legacy is her beautiful homemade quilts and pillows which won her many ribbons for over 20 years at the Oklahoma State Fair. Her "Hearts and Flowers" quilt was honored by representing the State of Oklahoma on the cover of the best selling book, First Prize Quilts by Dimetra Makris. Mama's quilts were also featured in many newspaper articles, quilt magazines and displayed at quilt shows throughout Oklahoma.

Mama and Grandma, we will miss your loving touch every day of our lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband George C. Costas in 1986; a baby sister, Elva Louise; a sister, Margye Anderson; three other sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma and Charles McColgan, Inalee and Holden Herrin and Jewel and Dude Osborne and brother-in-law, Floyd Paulk.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Ward and husband Dale of Tuttle; her son, Charles Costas of Tuttle; grandchildren, Travice and Shari Ward of Tuttle and Scott and Lori Ward of Tuttle; great grandchildren, Zac, Britni, James, Hope, Paige and Thomas; a sister Betty Paulk of Oklahoma City; and many very special nieces and nephews who called her "Aunt Ernie."

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle. Officiating was Rev. Alvin Garrison. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.

Charles George Costas
February 17, 1951 ~ February 23, 2010


Charles George Costas, age 59, of Tuttle, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010, in Tuttle.

He was born on February 17, 1951 in Shawnee, the youngest of two children born to Ernestine and George Costas. Now his big sister, Kathy was thrilled to have a beautiful baby brother.

Charles loved his family and was the Houston Astros' biggest fan. Every summer he traveled with his family to the Astrodome to see his Astros and enjoy the beach at Galveston.

Not only was Charles a fan of the Astros, he was also Cher's biggest fan. Whenever he had a chance to attend a Cher concert, he was there.

For the past several years, Charles loved his many friends and special caregivers at the Tuttle Care Center. He also will never forget the special people from Excell Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernestine and George Costas, grandparents, J. L. and Mary Lou McClure, Charles and Myrtle Costas, aunts and uncles Alma and John Hickox, Thelma and Charlie McColgan, Ina Lee and Holden Herrin, Dude and Jewel Osborne and Floyd Paulk and Margye Anderson.

Charles is survived by his sister, Kathy Ward and husband Dale of Tuttle, nieces and nephews Travice and Shari Ward, Zac Ward, Britni and James McElhaney, Scott and Lori Ward, Hope, Paige and Thomas, aunt Betty Paulk of Oklahoma City and many cousins.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle. Funeral arrangements were by Wilson~Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.
