He was married to Nellie Oliver in 1907 and they had 7 children; Earl Conner, Mrs Lorine Gorley, Mrs Ruby Spaulding, Clifford, Jack, Joe, and Warren, all living. He also leaves 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He had lived in this vicinity for the last 3 years. |

Conner, 83, of Tuttle, was held Thursday, 3/5/1992, at the Snowhill Baptist church in Tuttle. Rev Emery Dye officiated. Earl J. Conner was born 6/5/1908 in Pocasset, OK, the son of John A. & Nellie [Oliver] Conner, and died Tuesday, 3/3/1992 in Chickasha. He was a life long resident of Grady County. He had lived in the Minco, Pocasset, & Tuttle areas. Mr Conner farmed and was a dairyman in the Tuttle area since 1933. He also contracted carpentry work. He and Daisey Crockett were married 8/25/1927 in Chickasha. He was a member of the Snowhill Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Earl J. Conner Jr & Bobby L. Conner, and 1 sister, Ruby Spalding. Survivors include his wife, Daisey, 1 son, Bill Conner of Tuttle, 3 daughters, Earlean McDonald of Las Cruses, N.M., Wanda Ball of Chamblee, GA, & Peggy Pickard of Tuttle, 1 sister, Lorene Gourley of Texas, 4 brothers, Clifford Conner of Oklahoma City, Jack Conner of Midland, TX, Joe Conner of Tuttle, & Warren Conner of Albuquerque, N.M. and many grandchildren & great grandchildren. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier funeral home. |

Rev Willis Watts officiated & Rev Terry Tramel assisted. Mrs Conner died Feb 2 in Norman,OK. She was born 1/4/1912, to Kenneth & Delphia Pickett Coates at Artesia, New Mexico. She was a graduate of Tuttle High school. After marrying James S. Conner on 11/25/1933, she lived in Tuttle and California, before moving to Norman in 1972. She was a member of the Evangel Church in Norman. Mrs Conner is survived by her husband, James, a son, Jim Conner of Norman, 4 daughters, Laurel Kathleen Blanchard of Norman, Ellen Marie Counts of Norman, Teri Roxanne Sveiven of Garland, TX, & Jennifer Williams of Noble, a sister, Ruth Lorraine Henderson of Tuttle, 2 brothers, Benjiman Franklin Coates & Oliver Coates, both of Oklahoma City, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Pattie LaRue Conner, 2 brothers, Olin Coates & James Kenneth Coates. Burial was held at Fairview cemetery in Tuttle under direction of Primrose Funeral Service. |

Joe Richard Conner was born October 5, 1916 in Pocasset, Oklahoma the son of John and Nellie [Oliver] Conner and died January 25, 2005 at Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City. Joe married Vergie Lou [Robinett] on August 2, 1940 at the Tuttle Methodist Parsonage. They were married for 64 years. Both Joe and Vergie are members of the First Baptist Church. Joe was a lifetime farmer around the Tuttle Community.. Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers; one sister; and two grandsons. Survivors include: his wife: Vergie Lou Conner of the home; two sons: Bobby Joe and Jenna Conner of Blanchard; J.B. and Pearl Conner of Tuttle; one daughter: Anna Louise Bromlow of Tuttle; two brothers: Twin, Jack Conner of Midland, Texas, Warren Conner of Katy, Texas; one sister: Lorene Gourley of Ozona, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |

[Routh] Yates. She died December 17, 2009, in Oklahoma City after a long illness. She sttended school in Calumet and Bridge Creek. She retured after a long working career in Oklahoma City, California, and Washington, D.C., where she met and married Bob Griffin who preceded her in death. She enjoyed travel, theater, making jewelry, crafts, and her many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and infant son, Charles Wayne, and four brothers, Melvin, Lawrence, W. C., and Jimmy Yates. She is survived by one brother, Dean Yates of Portland, Ore., three sisters, Freda Gambill of Guthrie, Virginia Weaver and husband Wayne, of Yukon and Gwendolyn Bomgardner and husband Kenneth, of Tuttle, sisters-in-law, Nicole and Vivian Yates, three special nieces, April Gonzales, Carolyn Baxter and Patricia Yates, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Community Christian Church, 2010 N. Eastern in Moore on Saturday, December 19, and were officiated by Mike Smith. Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle immediately following the services. |

He then attended Murray State college, the University of Oklahoma, & Panhandle State college. He married Harriett Smith 4/8/1972 in Odessa, TX, where he and his family has lived the past 5 years. He was general superintendant of Three Way Construction Co in Odessa, TX. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Tuttle. He is survived by his wife, Harriett, 1 daughter, Laura Tate of the home, 2 sons, Brandon Tate & Gregory Conner, of the home, his parents, Mr & Mrs Earl Conner of Tuttle, 1 brother, Bill Conner of Tuttle, 3 sisters, Mrs Earlean McDonald of Las Cruses, New Mexico, Mrs Wanda Ball of Atlanta, GA, & Mrs Peggy Lampkin of Tulsa. Services were Tuesday, Dec 20, in the First Baptist church of Tuttle, with Rev Emery Dye officiating. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle. Pallbearers were Bob Hulsey, Kenny Hardy, John Paxton, H.C. Kettler, Gilman Burris, & Terry Henderson. Music was furnished by the First Baptist church choir. Services were under direction of the Sevier funeral home, Tuttle. |
© The Tuttle Times Tuttle, Oklahoma Thursday, December 24, 2009 Thursday, December 24, 2009 Funeral services for John Alton Conner, 51, of Tuttle, were held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the First Assembly of God Church of Tuttle. John Alton Conner was born in Chickasha on November 27, 1958 to Bill and Beverly [Trammel] Conner and departed this life all too suddenly on December 17, 2009. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Laura Lyn Gibson, on July 26, 1980. Together they raised three children who were the light and joy of his life. He greatly enjoyed his 2-year-old grandson and was looking forward to the birth of his second grandchild. John was a life-long Tuttle resident, attending Tuttle schools and graduating in 1977. He excelled in athletics, receiving All-State football honors in 1976. His football career continued at Southeastern Oklahoma State University as a four-year starting linebacker. In 1980 he was declared NAIA Player of the Year and All American Linebacker. John was a Lineman Technician for OG&E for 28 years. He had recently been recognized for 28 accident-free years there. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and raising cattle and horses. He was a hard worker. Any friend knew they could count on him to lend a hand or a strong back There was nothing that he would not try to "fix" if it were broken. He was always there to tease or wrestle with any kid that came along. "Big" John was a gentle giant with a heart as big as he was. He always looked for the good in others, and never had a harsh word for anyone. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Daisy Conner and Wilford Trammell and Maudie Trammel McConnel. John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laura Conner, daughter Kristin Clement and husband, Joshua, of Mooe, son, Brian Conner and wife, Stephanie, of Tuttle and son, Daniel Conner of Tuttle, two grandchildren, Kaiden Clement and Baby Conner, soon to be born, his parents, Bill and Beverly Conner, siblings Anita and Richard McCraw, Arnold and Cindy Conner and Blake Conner, parents-in-law, Ray and Janice Gibson, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and LaDonna Gibson, Melissa and Pat Cope, John and Elly Gibson, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. John was a devoted husband and father. He leaves a legacy of integrity, quiet strength and dignity that will inspire his family in the days and years ahead. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the John Conner Memorial Fund at Sooner State Bank, 2 S.E. 4th, Tuttle, OK 73089. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle. |

Mr Conner's profession was a carpenter. He was a member of the PRCA Pro Rodeo Association. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Billy Joe Conner and his grandfather, Glenn Cruzan. Survivors include 2 sons, Michael Todd Conner and Wyatt Austin Conner, both of Yukon, his mother, Glenda Conner of Tuttle, his father & step-mother, Bobby and Jenna D. Conner of Blanchard, 2 brothers, Alan Dale Conner & Jay Evan Conner, both of Tuttle, his maternal grandmother, Lena Cruzan of Tuttle, paternal grandparents, Joe & Virgie Conner of Tuttle, former wife, Toni R. Conner of Yukon, 3 step-sisters & brothers-in-law, Amy & Charles Mason, Jean & Rheuben Green, and Joy & Chad McGuire, all of Tuttle.
