© The Tuttle Times Tuttle, Oklahoma March 31, 1949 December 24, 1874 ~ March 26, 1949 Funeral services were held Monday in the local Methodist church for Claud Coker, 74, a former Tuttle resident who passed away Saturday, March 26, in Norman. Rev John Lomax of the Methodist church was in charge. Pallbearers were: C.C. Powell, Calvin Shipley, E.C. Osborn, Sam Burba, Tommy Caldwell, & Dr J.F. Renegar. Claud Coker was born in Paris, TX in 1875. He married Will Ella Ewer in 1896 in Paris, TX. He came to Oklahoma in statehood in 1907 as a farmer near Tuttle; he also lived in Seminole after his wife passed away in May 1936; and had been in Norman since 1943, making his home with his son, C.M. Coker. He passed away Saturday, March 26 in Norman. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs Vene Clark of Winnsboro, TX, Mrs Norine Smith of Dallas, TX, & Mrs Mary Hase of Owensboro, KY, 3 sons, Roy of St Elmo, ILL, Fred of Napa, Calif, & C.M. of Norman, 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Other survivors are a twin brother, Charle of Dallas, TX, who was present for the funeral, 5 sister, Mrs Grace Adams of Manchester, TX, Mrs Evie Gaines of Bovina, TX, Mrs Betty Adams of Paris, TX, Mrs Viola Nowelin of Paris, TX, & Mrs Julie Coode of Dallas, TX. |

She leaves her husband, Claud P. Coker, 3 sons, Roy, Marshall, & Fred Coker of Seminole, OK, 3 daughters, Mrs Luther Clark, Mrs Roy Hase, Seminole, OK, & miss Norine Coker of Tuttle, Mr Ewer, brother of Paris, TX. Mr & Mrs Coker have been residents of vicinity of Tuttle for about 30 years. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church of Tuttle by Bro. Moss Weaver, 5/27/1936 with interment at the Tuttle cemetery. |
