Joy Sharon Stine Byrd
January 4, 1940 ~ June 19, 2015


Joy Byrd, age 75 of Leavenworth, KS, formerly of OKC, passed away Friday June 19, 2015, at the Providence Medical Center in Kansas City. Joy Sharon Stine was born January 4, 1940 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the next to the youngest of 10 children of Paul C. Stine and Anna B. [Taylor] Stine.

She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1958. After high school she attended a Beauty Academy.

Joy married a career Army man named A.C. Byrd. They fell in love and were married on September 21, 1962 in OKC.

Joy worked hard as a homemaker as they lived in various places including France and all over the United States. Eventually they settled in Leavenworth, Kansas calling it home ever since.

Joy enjoyed baking and cake decorating. She was especially interested in ceramics and for the last several years she enjoyed creating handmade greeting cards.

Although she never had any children, she was a mother to many of her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Paul and Anna Stine; Siblings, Gerald Jeldy Stine, Paul G Stine, Helena Mae Watson, Kenneth Lee Stine, Lois Berniece Gunn, JW "Bill" Stine, Beverly Ann Stine and Sandra Kay Reeves. She leaves behind: Her husband, A.C. Byrd of the home; Her sister, Murel Owen of OKC; Sister-in-laws, Sandy Stine of Moore; Vi McNab of Blanchard. A host of nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews her dear friends, Danny and Diane Moulden of Leavenworth, KS.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home Newcastle.
