Oscar H. Bledsoe
November 11, 1892 ~ November 28, 1969


Services for Oscar H. Bledsoe, 77, Washington, formerly of Tuttle, were held Tuesday, Dec 2, at the Methodist church with Rev Montie Jones officiating. Mr Bledsoe passed away in his home in Washinton on Nov 28.

He was born 11/11/1892 in Collin City, TX. He moved to Oklahoma in 1909 and had been a resident of the Dibble, Washington, & Blanchard communities the last few years.

In 1915, he married miss Annie Rhea and they had 12 children. Two of them preceded him in death as did his wife in 1966. Later, he married Mrs Nellie Jones of Dibble.

Mr Bledsoe was a member of the Latter Day Saints church.

Mrs Forest O'Hara & Mrs Viola Rich provided the music.

Pallbearers were Frank Shay, Arnold Fore, James Schuyler, Lannis Sutton, Alfred Cruse, & Vance Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie, 3 daughters, Mrs Opal Turpin of Sacramento, Calif, Mrs Gene Magnus of Santa Clara, Calif, & Mrs Berthina Stewart Magnus of Santa Clara, Calif. Bill Bledsoe, N.Y., J.D. Bledsoe, Carson City, Nev, Merion Bledsoe, Marquette, Mich, and Luther F. Bledsoe, Burkburnett, TX, who is now in Vietnam; Cletis and Don Bledsoe, Oklahoma City. There are 3 brothers, Joe and Tony Bledsoe of Texas and John Bledsoe of California, 3 sisters, Viola Dean of Washington state, Beulah Markham, Lexington, and Naomi Stanton of California. There are 29 grandchildren.

Interment was in Tuttle Fairview cemetery under direction of the Eisenhour funeral home of Blanchard.

Jewel E. [Lawson] Bledsoe
November 20, 1913 ~ June 16, 2003


Funeral service for Jewel E. Bledsoe, 89, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church of Tuttle.

Jewel E. Bledsoe was born November 20, 1913, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas L. and Mary [Curtis] Lawson, and died June 16, 2003, in Chickasha.

Mrs. Bledsoe was born on a farm at Rush Springs, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school at Alex, Oklahoma.

She and Joe Bledsoe were married September 13, 1932, in Alex, Oklahoma. They moved to Tuttle, where she raised her family.

Mrs. Bledsoe was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tuttle.

She was preceded in death by: her husband: Joe M. Bledsoe; brothers: Marvin Lawson and Harley Lawson; sisters: Lola Chisholm, Eula Story, Ethel Brown, and Lois Fowler; 2 infant grandsons.

Survivors include: 1 son and his wife: Joe Thomas Bledsoe, M.D. and wife, Jeanie, of Chickasha; 1 daughter and her husband: Janette Hale and husband, Harold, of Tuttle; 3 granddaughters: Suzanne Lumpkin of Ninnekah, Pattie Fennema of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Jill Grimes of Plano, Texas; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson; 1 brother: Fred Lawson of Tuttle; 2 sisters: Joyce Terry of Chickasha, Janelle Seltzer of Bradley.

Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Joe M. Bledsoe
August 28, 1905 ~ November 22, 1994


Funeral service for Joe Marvin Bledsoe, 89, of Tuttle, OK, was held Wednesday, 11/23/1994, in the Sowers Memorial chapel, Tuttle. Rev John Derr officiated.

Joe Marvin Bledsoe was born 8/28/1905 in the Dibble area, Indian Territory, the son of A.L. Bledsoe & Bashia June Davis Bledsoe. He died Tuesday, 11/22/1994, in Grady Memorial hospital in Chickasha. He married Jewel Lawson 9/13/1932 in Alex, OK. He was a long time farmer in the Tuttle community, and in addition, was manager of the Chickasha Cotton Oil Company at Tuttle. He later owned and operated a real estate, insurance, & oil lease business in Tuttle. He was active in the Farmers Union. Mr Bledsoe was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Alford Bledsoe, 2 sisters, Winnie Keith & Gillie Williams, and 2 half-brothers, Bert Bledsoe & Tom Thornhill.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel, 1 daughter, Janette Hale & husband, Harold of Amarillo, TX, 1 son, Dr Joe Thomas Bledsoe & wife, Jeannie of Chickasha, 1 sister, Lillie Plummer of Oklahoma City, 3 granddaughters, & 4 great grandchildren.

Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Sevier funeral home, Tuttle.
