Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, May 21, 2009 James Russell "Jim" Arganbright June 22, 1925 ~ May 17, 2009 Funeral service for James Russell 'Jim' Arganbright, 83, of Tuttle, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Tuttle. Jim was born June 22, 1925 in Jet, Oklahoma the son of Russell James and Carrie Appleton Arganbright. He went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Jim served in the United States Navy during World War II as an ensign and functioned as a supply officer and skipper on an LCT. He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1948. Jim married Mary Lee Adams and initially lived and worked in Anadarko. They moved to Chickasha where they raised their four children. After this marriage ended in divorce, Jim married Annie Greene on July 14, 1964 and created their blended family of five children. Jim and Ann moved to Tuttle after purchasing The Star Pharmacy on April 1, 1966. Jim served the public as a dedicated pharmacist for 59 years, with 40 of these years in Tuttle. Jim lived his life as a devoted Christian, husband, and father. He was a servant, teacher and leader to his family, to the First Baptist Church, and to the entire community of Tuttle. Jim strongly valued education and instilled the love learning to his entire family and to many friends. He was a musician at heart and enjoyed playing his clarinet, marching up to the age 80 in the OU Alumni Band, and playing with his music group of many years. Jim and Ann were avid football fans to both OU and to the Tuttle Tigers Jim's life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church, The American Legion, and was past president of the Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association. He was also a member of the Masons, Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Kiwanis Club. Jim belonged to the Republican Party and served on the Grady County Republican Committee. He served on the Board of Directors of Grady Memorial Hospital for 36 years and also was Chairman of the Board of the Sooner State Bank until his health declined. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ann of 44 years, and his daughter Kay Franklin. Survivors include: Reverend Joseph Arganbright of Oklahoma City, Joe Franklin and wife Darla of Tuttle, Dr. Kim Arganbright and wife Paula of Weatherford Kristie Scears and husband Mike of Midwest City, Karol Andrew and husband Bill of Tulsa, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and lifetime friend Claude Wilbur Gillett of Chickasha.The family would like to thank his many loving caregivers at Manor Care Nursing Facility of Midwest City where Jim resided the last year of his life. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle. The Fighting Men of Oklahoma ENS James Russell Arganbright, was born June 22, 1925 at Jet OK and attended Modesto CA High School and the University of Oklahoma. He was inducted into the service at Oklahoma City on July 1, 1942 and received his training at Austin TX and Notre Dame. ENS Arganbright served 12 months overseas in the Pacific Theater of War on the LCT 458. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star March 25 & 26, 2009 Annie Lou "Ann" [Greene] Arganbright August 14, 1928 ~ March 21, 2009 Funeral services for Annie Lou Greene Arganbright, 80, of Tuttle, Oklahoma will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Tuttle. Annie Lou Greene Arganbright was born August 14, 1928 in Union, S. C. to Carl B. and Panzy Goforth Greene and went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2009 in Oklahoma City. Annie was the ninth of 10 children. Known most of her life as Ann, she grew up in Union. As a young woman, Ann had a passion for softball and was the pitcher for the Union girl's team in the old Carolina semi-professional league. She graduated from Union High School and attended cosmetology school. Ann worked as a Southwestern Bell Telephone operator in Union as well as in the carding room of the old Union cotton mill in the process of making broadcloth. Ann was first married at the age of 19 and was blessed with a son, Joseph Kendall. They moved to Oklahoma in 1954 and lived in Chickasha, where Ann worked for Liberty Drug. She married Jim Arganbright on July 14, 1964 and was a dear mother to her blended family of Joe, Kay, Kim, Kristie, and Karol. Jim and Ann moved from Chickasha to Tuttle in 1966 and purchased The Star Pharmacy where they faithfully served the community for 40 years. Ann was an avid fan of the Tuttle Tigers as well as the OU Sooners. Ann was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tuttle, the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, the Republican Party, Grady County EMT Board and was a volunteer for the Hope Pregnancy Center. Ann was the epitome of strength and service. Her life influenced all who knew her and left a lasting impression on those whose paths she crossed. She was a dear friend to so many and will be greatly missed. One of her life verses was Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Panzy Greene, stepmother Ollie Robinson Greene, brothers Carl B. Greene of Chickasha, Eugene Greene of Maryland and Thomas Greene of Union, S.C. several older sisters and daughter Kay Franklin. Survivors include her husband Jim Arganbright of Tuttle, Reverend Joseph Arganbright of Oklahoma City, Joe Franklin of Tuttle, Dr. Kim Arganbright and wife Paula of Weatherford, Kristie Scears and husband Mike of Midwest City, Karol Andrew and husband Bill of Tulsa, sister Sara G. Sprouse of Union, S.C., stepbrother Bill Robinson of Florida, sister-in-law Evelyn Greene of Chickasha, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and lifetime friend Claude Wilbur Gillett of Chickasha. The family would like to thank Dr. Robin Germany who was her physician and beloved friend. They would also like to thank the many loving caregivers and friends at Manor Care Nursing Center in Midwest City. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
