© Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, August 30, 1909 1897 ~ September 23, 1909 Mrs. Thirza D. [sic., B.] Thacker, an aged woman and one of the pioneer residents of Chickasha, died last evening at her home at 713 Illinois avenue. She was known by her many Chickasha friends as a good and noble woman and loving wife and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at Fairview cemetery this afternoon. Letters of Administration of her estate were filed, Sept. 1909 by J. B. Thacker - her second husband. Her first husband, was: JAMES T. CLIFT, 1828-1877-ish. They were blessed with eight children. As the family story goes, a younger sibling had trouble saying her name and it came out as "Thurza" or "Thursey" and the nickname stuck. However, on their marriage certificate, it states "Thursday". I am surprised it wasn't changed... The Fairview Park Cemetery where she is at, is in VERY poor shape. Add to it, the land around it was sold and the farmer moved what he thought were rocks, before anyone knew any different - they were headstones! The following information provided by FAG volunteer, mike_sykes@att.net, Sept. 2013: "Fairview Park was abandoned shortly after the turn of the 1900's. Graves were relocated, some to Rose Hill Cemetery and some to Fairlawn Cemetery. And, I'm sure to some of the other local cemeteries. The land was reclaimed as farmland and is now a wheat field on private property. There remains a few grave stones in the middle, those markers can be viewed on the OK Cemeteries website."
