© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma March 22, 2004 March 25, 1909 ~ March 20, 200 Funeral service for Velmer Reader Golden Wood, age 94, of Chickasha, formerly of Alex, will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 23, 2004, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Velmer Reader Golden Wood was born March 25, 1909, in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Henry Oliver and Etta Alma Dear Golden. Mrs. Wood died Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Chickasha. She was a life-long resident of the Alex community. She came to Alex as a small child aged 2. She attended the Hawkins School north of Alex. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Alex. She married Roy Cecil Wood August 16, 1939, in Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1986. Survivors include three sons, Henry Cleal Wood and wife Nelda of Chickasha, Roy Lee Wood of Mustang, and Delbert Ray Wood and wife Tressa of Chickasha; one daughter, Aletha J. Terry and husband Gerald of Chickasha; one daughter-in-law, Maurice Wood of Ninnekah; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
