In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Home [www.obhc.org]. Francis Leroy White was born December 19, 1925 at Sharon, Oklahoma. He was the son of Oscar Edward and Murtie Lula [Wilson] White. He went to be with his Lord September 12, 2020. As a 10 year old boy he was saved and united with the First Baptist Church Sharon, Oklahoma. He moved with his family to Valliant, Oklahoma, in 1936, where he graduated from high school in 1943. He joined the U.S Navy March 29, 1944 and served aboard the USS Flint CL 97 as a Radarman 2/c in the Pacific. Francis was discharged from the Navy in March 1946. In the summer of 1946 he was ordained to the ministry by the First Baptist Church, Valliant, Oklahoma. In the fall of 1946 he enrolled as a student at Oklahoma Baptist University and attended there for five semesters. It was here that he met his wife, Charlotte West of Reydon, Oklahoma. They were married in the First Baptist Church, Reydon, Oklahoma, February 13, 1949. To this union one son, Randle was born. Francis earned BA and MEd degrees from Southwestern State University and a MA in Religion from Bethany Nazarene College. Francis served as pastor of FBC, Swink OK., FBC Hendrix, OK, associate pastor FBC Mangum, OK., pastor FBC Brinkman, OK., FBC Sharon, OK., FBC Hollister, OK., FBC Laverne, OK., FBC Lindsay, OK., and Carter Park Baptist Church, Del City, OK. In 1969 the family moved to Chickasha, OK where Francis taught English for three years at the Junior High School. In 1973 he began as a school psychometrist for the State Department of Education. After 17 years he retired in 1991. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director and taught an Adult Bible class. His primary goal in life was to help people. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In 2007 he and Charlotte moved to Broken Arrow, OK to be near his son, Randle. At the time of his death he was a member of Arrow Heights Baptist Church, Broken Arrow. He is survived by, son, Randle and his wife Celina, of Broken Arrow, OK., grandson, Patrick, his wife Beth and their daughter Quinn of Broken Arrow, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Harvey, Jim, Glen, Don, and Edward, three sisters: Mildred Miller, Margaret Greason, and Lula Hall. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, OK. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, November 30, 2009 July 19, 1929 ~ November 26, 2009 Funeral service for Charlotte Florine [West] White, 80, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, former Chickasha resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the College Heights Baptist Church, Chickasha. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Sevier Funeral Home. Charlotte [West] White was born July 19, 1929 in Roger Mills County near Strong City, Oklahoma. Her parents were Ernest and Estalela [Kenmore] West. She went to be with the Lord November 26, 2009. At age ten she trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour while at a children's camp at Southwest Assembly near Mangum. She was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church, Reydon. Charlotte graduated from Reydon High School in 1947. She attended The University of Oklahoma her freshman year and transferred to Oklahoma Baptist University at the beginning of her sophomore year. It was here that she met her future husband, Francis White. They were engaged just before Thanksgiving 1948 and were married at Reydon, Oklahoma February 13, 1949. She had one son, Randle White, born November 9, 1955. Charlotte was the ultimate preacher's wife and faithfully served beside her husband in Baptist churches at Mangum, Brinkman, Sharon, Hollister, Laverne, Lindsey, and Carter Park Del City. She loved little children and always worked in the nursery department at church. While a member at College Heights Baptist Church she was director of the pre-school department until her health began to fail. At the time of her death she was a member of Arrow Heights Baptist Church, Broken Arrow. In 1961 Charlotte was employed as a clerk typist at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. After several promotions, she made history in 1976 by becoming the first female right-of-way agent for the Department. In 1978 she again made history when she was promoted as the first female supervisor in the right-of-way division. She traveled all over Oklahoma buying right-of-way for highways. After 33 years she retired in 1994. Before she married she promised her parents she would get her college degree. She diligently pursued that goal and everywhere she lived she took advantage of nearby colleges and took courses. Finally in 1976 with course work from six different institutions she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Science and Arts at Chickasha. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Estalela West. She is survived by her husband Francis White, one son Randle and his wife Celina White, one grandson Patrick White and his fiancée Beth Cross, one brother Vernal and wife Patsy West, one Uncle Darrell Kenmore and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
