December 6, 1925 ~ February 14, 2003


RUSH SPRINGS - Funeral service for Walter "Clif" Whatley, 77, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2003, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Walter "Clif" Whatley was born December 6, 1925, in Grady County, Oklahoma, the son of Walter F. and Alma [Baler] Whatley, and died Friday, February 14, 2003, in Chickasha.

Mr. Whatley lived in Grady County all of his life.

He retired from the Post Office and later worked at Baity Machine Ship.

He was an active bowler for 30 years and bowled with the Monday Night Business League and participated in tournaments. He was also an active golfer, playing with his partner and friend, Bob Cox. Mr. Whatley was an avid gardener and delivered vegetables to their neighbors.

He and Wanda Brown were married April 26, 1952.

Mr. Whatley served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by: 1 son: Darrell Whatley in 1983.

Survivors include: Wife: Wanda Whatley of the home; 1 daughter and her husband: Deborah and Daniel Zellmer of Victoria, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Brenda Zellmer, Beth Zellmer, and Machaela Zellmer; 1 sister: Doris Underwood of Oklahoma City; 2 nephews: Mike and Gary Underwood; mother-in-law: Lois Brown of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; and Wanda's extended family and many, many friends, including the Jim Collins Family.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation.
