July 2, 1914 ~ August 15, 2010 Funeral service for William L. "Bill" Weller, Jr., age 96 of Chickasha will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the First Baptist Church. Dr. David Hall will officiate. William L. "Bill" was born the son of William L. Weller, Sr. and Minnie Lola Bass Weller in Chickasha. He died on Aug. 15, 2010, in Chickasha. Bill grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1932. After graduation, he joined his father, William L. Weller, Sr., in the transfer and storage business. He became the third generation Weller to operate the business known as Weller's Reliable Transfer & Storage Co. In 1941, just prior to serving his country, he met the love of his life, Maxine Denson of Lindsay, Oklahoma. They married July 1, 1943 and spent the next 67 years together. Being drafted in 1941, Bill served his country in World War II attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1945. In 1945, he rejoined his father operating the transfer and storage business and operated the business until 2007 when he retired. Bill was an ordained Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha and was one of the oldest living Deacons of the church. He served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was known for sharing his colorful life with young men of the church. He loved to sing in the church choir and with the men's quartet. He possessed a strong tenor voice. Bill possessed a strong faith in the Lord and loved to share that faith with others. Bill was proud of his heritage and his family. He loved to spend time with his family. Bill was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lola Weller and sister, Bonnie Weller Kemper. Survivors include: Wife: Maxine Weller of the home, Son & Wife: Bill & Nan Weller of Bethany, Son & Fiancé: Bob Weller & Sandy Wood of Chickasha, Grandson & Wife: Matt & Sherri Weller of Yukon, Granddaughter & Husband: Jill & Shaun McCormick of Owasso, Granddaughter & Husband: Tamara & Brad Thompson of Yukon, Granddaughter & Husband: Amanda & Brian Brunett of Carrollton, Texas, Ten Great Grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
