© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Tuesday, October 20, 2009 December 4, 1948 ~ October 19, 2009 Funeral Services for Alan C. Welch, 60, of Chickasha are being held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church, with Billy Elkins officiating. Alan C. Welch was born December 4, 1948, in Durant, Oklahoma to A. M. and Shirley F. Welch. He was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2009 in Chickasha. Alan grew up in the Chickasha area. He graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences degree from the University of Sciences and Arts of Oklahoma and with a Masters of Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was ordained at Vimy Ridge Baptist Church of Rush Springs. Alan was a pastor for many years and eventually retired from the printing industry. Alan was an avid golfer, a civil war buff, and a sport enthusiast. His main love, however, was his children and six grandchildren. They were the loves of his life. One legacy he would want to leave with them was his love of Christ. Alan ministered to many in their time of need and grief, so we know he would not want us to grieve over his passing. A bible passage that Alan believed with his whole heart was John 11:25-26. We wanted more time with him but we know that right now he is rejoicing with his savior in paradise. Alan was a blessing to all of us, and we will miss him. Alan was preceded in death by his father, and is survived by his mother: Shirley Welch of Chickasha, daughter and husband: Leigh Ann and Lance Mills of Mustang, daughter and husband: Natalie and Matthew Shofner of Oklahoma City, grandchildren: Tyler, Carson and Jackson Mills of Mustang, grandchildren: Naomi, Damon and Elsa Shofner of Oklahoma City, brother and wife: Phillip and Vanda Welch of Oklahoma City, brother and wife: David and Lisa Welch of Chickasha, sister and husband: Denise and Alan Wallace of Wylie, Texas, brother and wife: Kent and Helen Welch of Oklahoma City, and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
