Rev. Gary Layman will officiate. Marvin Edward Weaver was born April 19, 1925, in the Friend, Okla., community, and died on Sunday, Feb 2, 2003, in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma February 5, 2003 April 19, 1925 ~ February 2, 2003 Graveside funeral services for Marvin Edward Weaver, 77, od Chickasha, will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery, with Reverend Gary Layman officiating. Marvin Weaver was born April 19, 1925, in the Friend community, the son of Gus Edward Weaver and Pearlie Green Cooper Weaver. He died Sunday, February, 2, 2003, in Chickasha. Marvin grew up in the Friend community, attending Friend Schools. He was drafted his senior year of high school into the United States Army Medical Corps. Marvin was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Darlene Keef in Chickasha on June 26, 1950, and to this union his four children were born. He farmed east of Chickasha in the Friend community and later became employed with the Chickasha Public Schools where he worked in the maintenance department and as a school bus driver for over twenty- five years, retiring in the early 1980s. Marvin was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers: Harold Basham and Lloyd Weaver, both of Chickasha, and Ray Basham from Ninnekah; one sister, Virginia Hill from Norman; two children, David Weaver in 1971 and Melvin Weaver in 1976. Survivors include his daughter Cindy Douglas, and one son, Gordon Weaver, both of Chickasha; two sisters and brother-in-law; Margie Monical of Norman, Oklahoma, and Hazel and J. C. Tipton of Green Forest, Ark.; one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Queen Weaver of La Mesa, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
