© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Saturday, December 16, 2006 November 12, 1928 ~ December 14, 2006 Memorial services for Orvil Tumelson, 78, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday December 18, 2006, at the New Life Christian Church with Ezell Nelson officiating. Orvil Tumelson was born November 12, 1928, in Clarksville, Arkansas the son of George and Robbie [Pitts] Tumelson. He died Thursday, December 14, 2006, at his home in Chickasha. His family relocated to Oklahoma in 1934. He attended and graduated from Minco High School in 1950. He joined the United States Army in 1955, with tours extending to Korea during the Korean War. He proudly served his country and was "Honorably" discharged in 1957. Orvil married the love of his life, Helen Harmon, on May 13, 1966, in Chickasha Oklahoma. They made their home in Chickasha, where they raised their family and he made his career. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for several years retiring from there in 1981. He then went to work for AT&T, which he worked for until he fully retired in 1994. He enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren, camping, gardening, fishing, and tinkering outdoors. He was a member of the New Life Christian Church. He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Lee Tumelson; step- son Bill Dodd Jr. Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lacresha and Chad Hale, of Chickasha and Kathy and Dennis Bradley, of Eldon, Missouri; two sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Carman Tumelson, of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Mark and Brenda Tumelson, of El Reno, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law: Bobby and Vivian Tumelson, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Janice Tumelson, of Marlow, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |

Helen Marie [Harmon] Tumelson passed away on December 31, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was born on August 22, 1936 at Oil Center in Ada, Oklahoma to John Henry Harmon and Lela ([ogers] Harmon. She married Orvil Tumelson on May 13, 1966 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She had two children, Bill Dodd, Jr. and LaCresha Tumelson-Hale, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Helen loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed watching NASCAR and college football. She was also a longtime member of New Life Christian Church. She was preceded in death by both her parents John and Lela Harmon; her son Bill Dodd, Jr.; husband Orvil Tumelson; siblings James Harmon, Bobby Harmon and Betty Lou Harmon. Survivors include her daughter LaCresha Tumelson-Hale of Chickasha; grandchildren Billy Dodd, Mike Dodd, Chris Dodd, Kassy Carlin, Brad Hale and Josh Hale; great-grandchildren Destiny Dodd, Hagen Dodd, Heaven Dodd, Jeremy Carlin, Hunter Carlin, Levi Carlin and Angie Hale; one great-great-granddaughter Brynlee Borski; brother, Carl Harmon of Aurora, Colorado; and other extended family and friends. Services, cremation arrangements and interment of cremains in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
