© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma December 17, 1980, pg 20, col 2 December 25, 1980, pg 14, col 3 Louis Ward Sikes February 28, 1896 ~ December 16, 1980 Funeral for Louie Ward Sikes, 84, 928 South 20th will be at 1:30 p.m., December 18, 1980 in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Dye, pastor of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Sikes was born February 28, 1896 in Decatur, Texas. He died December 16, 1980 at Grady Memorial Hospital. He came here in 1902 from Decatur, Texas. He and Beulah Onita Passmore were married May 21, 1919 in Hollis. Mr. Sikes was a self-employed painting contractor and paperhanger. He was one of the first members of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Sikes was a veteran of World War I, a member of American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Painters Union. He was preceded in death by two children, Myrl, in 1969 and Bonnie in 1935 and four brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Onita of the home; seven sons, LeRoy and Ed of Del City, Fred of McLoud, Bill of Farmington, N.M., Marvin of Springfield, Mo., Larry and Don both of Chickasha; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Harris, Mrs. Nancy Davis and Mrs. Janet Merritt all of Chickasha; one brother, Robert Sikes of Amarillo, Texas; 34 grand children, 29 great grandchildren. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. |
