© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, September 17, 1979 Luther H. Self February 9, 1904 ~ September 15, 1979 Funeral for Luther H. Self, 75, 820 Texas, will be at 10:30 am Tuesday in First Baptist Church, with Rev. R. C. Miller and Rev. Mart Hardin officiating. Mr. Self was born February 9, 1904, at DeQueen, Ark. He died September 15, 1979 in Grady Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He and Isla May Keith were married on Aug. 26, 1924, in Oklahoma City. He owned and operated the Frostee Food Lockers in Chickasha until retirement. He also operated food lockers in Cushing and McAlester. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon-Sunday School superintendent, teacher of Men's Bible Class, and was a member of the Chickasha Rotary Club. The body will lie in state until 9:30 am Tuesday. The casket will be closed at services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society through Sevier Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Isla May Self, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tomb of Justin, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Felix of Ponca City; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Charlton of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Hubert Self of Mission Texas; and five grandchildren. Members of Fisherman's Sunday School Class Seven, and Deacons of First Baptist Church will be seated in an honorary group. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, July 21, 1983 Isla May Self September 25, 1904 ~ July 20, 1983 Funeral for Mrs. Isla M. Self, 78, Blackwell, will be held at 2 pm Friday, July 22, 1983 in the First Baptist Church. Rev. R. C. Miller will be officiating. Mrs. Self was born September 25, 1904 in Ft. Worth, Texas, and died Wednesday, July 20, 1983, in Blackwell. She and Luther H. Self were married in 1923 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1979. Mrs. Self spent her childhood in Oklahoma City. She was a long time resident of Chickasha, moving to Blackwell in 1961 to live near her daughter. She owned and operated the Frosty Food Lockers. Mrs. Self was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher in Bible Class, and worked with the teenagers. Mrs. Self was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Survivors include two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon (Joyce) Felix of Ponca City, and Dolores Tomb of Tustin, Calif.; one sister, Julia Sell of Ft. Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Sandra (Felix) Shroyer of Oklahoma City, Larry Felix, Kenneth Tomb Jr., Karyl (Tomb) O'Brien, and David Keith Tomb, all of California; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
