© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, September 18, 2009 John Carl "JC" Schlecht June 23, 1916 ~ September 16, 2009 Funeral Mass for "JC" Schlecht, 93, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Holy Name Catholic Church. Wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. J.C. Schlecht was born June 23, 1916, in Sayre, Oklahoma the son of John Ernest and Elizabeth Ann [Cuff] Schlecht. He died September 16, 2009 at his home in Ninnekah. J.C. lived north of Chickasha after moving to this area from Vinita as a youngster. He had been a farmer and rancher in the Ninnekah area since 1942. He and Mary Magdalen Boelen were married November 4, 1950 at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death in 2008. J.C. and his siblings attended St. Joseph Academy by riding mules to get there. His three children also attended St. Joseph Academy before it closed in the late 1960's. J.C. was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church which his grandfather helped build. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He and Mary were honored as Pioneers of the year in Ninnekah in 2007. He continued to participate in community activities until his death. J. C. was preceded in death by: Parents, 2 sisters: Josephine and Marie, 3 brothers: Roland, Ambrose and Valentine. Survivors include: 1 son and daughter-in-law: James and Mary Schlecht of Chickasha, 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Tresa Schlecht and Paul Klingenberg of Annandale, Virginia, Ann and Mike Berry of Norman, OklahomaGrandchildren: Sara Schlecht, James and J.P. Klingenberg, and Will and Neil Berry, 1 sister: Teresa Schlecht of Hawaii. Interment will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
