Richardson, 91, of Chickasha will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Sevier Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Willard Kerm of Chickasha officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Sevier Funeral Home. Richardson was born July 24, 1887 at DeWitt, Nebraska He died Sunday at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha. He was married to Rosalie May Wellman at Howard, Kansas on May 5, 1910. She died in May of 1970. Richardson had lived in Oklahoma 57 years. He farmed in the Fort Cobb area from 1921 until 1970. Following his retirement he moved to Chickasha where he had lived the past six years. He was a Methodist. Survivors include three sons, Harold of Oklahoma City, Gerald of Bentonville, Ark. and Glenn of Verden; one daughter Leota B. Hibbs of Weston MO.; two brothers, Orvel of Piedmont, Kan., and Jesse of Howard, Kan.; two sisters, Elsie Shumard of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ida Babb of Florida, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. |
© Anadarko Daily News Anadarko, Oklahoma Thursday, May 21, 1970 Rosalie May Wellman Richardson August 22, 1889 ~ May 21, 1970 CHICKASHA--Mrs. Walter L., Rosalie May Richardson, 80 of Fort Cobb, who died today in Grady Memorial Hospital at Chickasha, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home with Dr. David Hall, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Chickasha, officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Born August 22, 1889 in Valley Falls, Kansas, Mrs. Richardson had been in failing health for the past 10 years. She moved with her family as a small child to southern Kansas, where she was married to Walter L. Richardson May 5, 1910 in Howard, Kansas. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. She came to Fort Cobb in January 1921 and had lived there since. She was a member of the Crescent Home Demonstration Club in Fort Cobb. Survivors include her husband of the home in Fort Cobb; three sons, Harold of Oklahoma City, Gerald of Bentonville, Ark., and Glenn of Verden; two daughters, Mrs. Rena Smith of Chickasha, and Mrs. Leota Hibbs, of Weston, MO.; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Southwick, of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Edith Aplin, of Dumas, Texas, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. |

Lonnie Harris of the Rush Springs Assembly of God Church officiating. Mr. Richardson was born January 28, 1902 in Reagor Springs, Texas. He died Monday, March 29, 1982 in Chickasha. Mr. Richardson moved to the Chickasha area the first time in 1909 from Texas. He served during World War I in the Army and after the war worked and lived in California. He retired in 1967 and moved back to Chickasha in 1977. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by both parents, Mr & Mrs Charley Owen [Mary Adeline Hartsfield] Richardson and one brother. Surviving family includes four brothers, W. C. Richardson of Chickasha, Jack Richardson of Ninnekah, C. C. Richardson and J. L. Richardson both of Chickasha; two sisters, Alta Richardson of Chickasha and Opal Lawson of Alex; 16 nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Binyon Funeral Home. |

Maxine Molona [Holcomb] Richardson was born November 1, 1916, in Ottoma, Iowa, the daughter of Luther Lou and Oscena [Bills] Holcomb. She died March 2, 2010, in Chickasha. She grew up in Eldon, Iowa, and moved to Chickasha at age 11. She attended Union Hills and Ninnekah Schools. She married the love of her life, Cleo Richardson on December 7, 1933, in Anadarko. They had 60 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death in 1993. Maxine and Cleo moved to California in 1937 where they lived for 10 years before moving back to Chickasha in 1947. Maxine went to work for Pet Milk where she worked for 22 years before retiring in 1974. She loved to fish and she especially enjoyed fishing on Lake Texhoma. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she enjoyed her family. Maxine was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Cleo; five brothers; one sister and one great grandchild.She leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law: Ocena and Jim Kirk of Chickasha and JoAlta and Jerry Harris of Herndon, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law: Clifford and Jacquline Richardson of Marlow; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |

Richardson was born September 14, 1923 at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, to Walter L. and Rosalie May [Wellman] Richardson. He died November 11, 2005 at his farm near Verden. He married Naomi Mae Pitts of Fort Cobb on January 6, 1945, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He was a dairy farmer, father and grandfather, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Chickasha, for 54 years. His childhood was spent in Fort Cobb, where he attended Crescent School and graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1940. He attended Trade school in Chickasha to be trained as a pattern maker. His skills enabled him to work in a foundry during World War II in Fairfield, Connecticut, making aluminum parts to support the war effort. Following his marriage, he and his wife lived west of Binger for five years, moved to Ninnekah in 1950, to Chickasha in 1952, and to their farm near Verden in 1957. He was an active leader and supporter of school and community activities including Verden PTA, school and athletic organizations, and Grady County 4-H Clubs. He served on the Verden School Board for 20 years. Mr. & Mrs. Richardson were honored as the Oklahoma Farm Bureau State Farm Family of the Year. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, and attending the various activities of his grandchildren. The focus of Mr. Richardson's life was his wife, children and grandchildren. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by: his wife: Naomi; his parents; two brothers, Harold Richardson and Gerald Richardson; and one sister, Rena Smith. He is survived by: three daughters: Linda McElroy of Purcell; her children Lisa and Dennis Wright of Norma, and Greg and Kelli McElroy of Ft. Worth, Texas; Jenell and husband Sam Hendry of Shawnee; their children Scott Hendry of Norman and Lauren Hendry of Shawnee; Karen and husband Dean Cummingham of Verden; their children Michael Cunningham of Norman and Daniel Cunningham of Verden; one sister: Leota Hibbs of Weston, Missouri; sister-in-law: Lorene Pitts of La Habra, California; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives. In honor of the grandfather, Mr. Richardson's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Johnny Tims, pastor of First Baptist Church, Chickasha, officiating. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Richardson was born October 21, 1923, at Fort Cobb, Okla., to Stirling and Maud Pitts, and died July 4, 2001, in Chickasha, OK. She married Glenn Richardson of Fort Cobb on January 6, 1945, in Tecumseh, Okla. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother, and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha since 1951. Her childhood was spent in the Fort Cobb-Oney area, where she was a member of the Highland Methodist Church, attended Grand Prairie Elementary School, and graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1941. During World War II, she was an electrician in airplane construction at Douglas Air Force Base. Following their marriage, she and her husband lived west of Binger for five years, moved to Ninnekah in l950, to Chickasha in 1952, and to their farm near Verden in 1957. She was an active leader and supporter of school and community activities including Verden PTA, school and athletic organizations and Grady County 4-H Clubs. She was a representative and area manager for World Book. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson were honored as the Oklahoma Farm Bureau State Farm Family of the Year. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing and reading. The focus of Mrs. Richardson's life was her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mildred Beason of Lexington, and two brothers, Leo Pitts and Armor Pitts of California. Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of the home; three daughters and their families, Linda McElroy, Lisa, and Greg of Purcell, Janell and Sam Hendry, Scott and Lauren of Shawnee, and Karen and Dean Cunningham, Michael and Daniel of Verden; one brother and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Euda Pitts, Lorene Pitts, and Etta Pitts of California; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. |
February 7, 2017 Melvin Wade Richardson Melvin Wade Richardson was born August 23, 1939 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Bennie Eli and Opal Lois [Sammons] Richardson. He passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 77. Sonny Jim married Patricia "Pat" Sue Richardson on January 16, 1960. He worked for Elliott Wholesale, Navajo Trailers in New Mexico, Imperial Trailers in Lindsay, Phillips' Trailers in Chickasha and worked for Jackson Trailers for over 20 years. Pat preceded him in death on May 11, 1995. He married Fleeta Ewy on July 24, 2004. Sonny Jim's greatest joys were spending time with his family, fishing and music. He exhibited his abilities by playing the good old country songs, swooning Fleeta on the dance floor and his many fishing tournaments. Sonny always had a smile and a story for everyone he met. He always made everyone feel "so special." He is also preceded in death by his parents. Sonny Jim is survived by his wife, Fleeta Richardson; Son, Gregory Richardson and his wife, Tina; Daughter, LaDonna Haycraft; Grandchildren: McKinzie Dobey, Beth Turpin, Trey Haycraft and Koleton Richardson, Great grandchildren: Elaina Dobey, Oynx Dobey, Bo Turpin, Landin Turpin, Lukus Turpin; Stepsons: Kenzel Ewy-Tate, Ryan Tate-Ewy and Brandon Ewy and Kaciee Hobbs; Stepgrandchildren: Berlynn Ewy, Kenzlie Ewy, Keiser Ewy, Chevy Ewy and Kaicyk Ewy; Sister, Melba Pettijohn. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, October 22, 2009 Wanda Mae [Stropes] Richardson August 13, 1941 ~ October 14, 2009 A graveside Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha for Wanda Mae Stropes Richardson. Wanda was born August 13, 1941 in the area of Ninnekah/Agawam, Oklahoma to Elmer "Jack" and Mabel "Lucille" Trammell Stropes. She attended school in Grady County and completed one year at OCW in Chickasha. On July 2, 1960 she married Chris Richardson in southern California where they made their home until 1977 when they moved to Enid, Oklahoma. She resided in Enid until her death on October 14, 2009 due to a sudden illness. Survivors include her son Mark Richardson and wife Cynthia of Bray, daughter Cindy Bittle and husband Tom of Yukon. Brothers Marvin D. Stropes of Chickasha, James R. Stropes and wife Ruth of Bethany and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Grandkids Christopher Richardson of Tulsa, Kelly Olson and husband Matt of Moore, Jordann and Weston Bittle of Yukon, and great grandson Moston Olson of Moore. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Junior, Melvin, and Everett Stropes, and her son John Richardson. In her retirement she enjoyed listening to the Gaither Vocal Band and various other Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian artists. The joy of Wanda's life was not only delighting in her Lord and Savior, but in the lives of her grandchildren and family. |
