Edna Faye [Sloan] Still Reedy
July 19, 1912 ~ November 12, 2005


Edna Faye Reedy, Newkirk resident and formerly of Chickasha, died Saturday, November 12, 2005 in Westminister Village, Ponca City. She was 93.

The daughter of M. L. and Roxie [Swinford] Sloan, Jr, she was born July 19, 1912 in Chickasha. Later her mother married R. L. Stidham, and Edna Faye was raised by her mother and stepfather. She received her education in the Grandfield, Lawton and Chickasha areas. At age 16 she was employed in the steam laundry in Chickasha.

In 1933 she married W. E. Still in Chickasha. They established their home on a farm.

In 1956 Edna and B. D. "Jack" Reedy were married in Sulphur, making their home in Oklahoma City.

She was employed as manager of one of the movie theaters in that area. In 1960 the couple moved to Sacramento, Calif. and she was employed as cashier in a theater there.

Mr. Reedy died in 1965. After his death she returned to Chickasha where she worked in the laundry. Retiring in 1980, she moved to Newkirk in 1990.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newkirk. In addition to her church, she enjoyed western movies, reading and games, both board and card.

She is survived by six cousins, Della Sebor of Newkirk, Opal Ezell of Madill, Harold Swinford of Ponca City, Juanita Little Walker of Ponca City, Jack Hopkins of Chickasha and Eddie Klinksick of Albuquerque, NM.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, in the First Baptist Church of Newkirk.

Committal service and burial will be held at 3 p.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha. Miller-Stahl Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial funds have been established with Hospice of North Central.
