© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma May 11, 2005 September 18, 1919 ~ May 1, 2005 Graveside services for Lillian Odessa Prince, 85, of Berkeley, CA will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery. Lillian passed away on May 1st, 2005. Funeral services were held in Oakland, CA on May 9th, 2005. Lillian Prince "Aunt Sis", the daughter of Louis Van and Sara Jane Turnerhill, was born September 18, 1919 in Rush Springs, OK. She was the only daughter along with five brothers: James, Emmitt, Rudolph, Edward, and Amos all of whom preceded her in death. Lilliian was raised in Rush Springs, OK and attended school in Chickasha, OK. She graduated in 1941 from Lincoln High School in Chickasha, OK. During the 1940s Lillian had a brief marriage to Joe Peters. In 1944 Lillian moved to Berkeley, CA where she united in holy matrimony to Ernest Prince whom preceded her in death. Lillian accepted Christ at an early age, and was an active member of the Church of the Living God in Oakland, CA. At her church, Lillian served as President of the User Board for 30 years and Social Chairman of the Northern District Usher Board for many years. Lillian was a proud worker, for 40 plus years, she worked at Colgate Palmolive CO. until retirement. She was also a longtime member of the Church of the Living God/Alameda Lions Club. Even though Lillian had no children, she raised, and helped raise many children of her family, friends, and neighbors. Aunt Sis, as she was affectionately called, was an excellent cook. She got a great joy out of cooking for church functions and family gatherings. She will be missed by the three important men in her life, nephew Virgil Turnerhill whom visited her weekly; great nephew Ricky C. Ellis, whom moved to live with her in Berkeley, CA from Chickasha, OK at an early age; great nephew Stanley Ellis, whom during the last 23 years of her life, lovingly took care of her until she departed this earth. She leaves many family members and friends behind to cherish her memory. Services are under the direction of Brown/Christian Funeral Home. |
