© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha OK January 2007 Ethel E. [Henry] Osteen October 17, 1911 ~ January 23, 2007 Ethel E. [Henry] Osteen was born near Wheatland, Oklahoma, on the land that the Henry family staked claim to in the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. She is one of five children born to Elbert Russell and Alice [New] Henry. She died in Oklahoma City. She married George C. Osteen September 2, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Ethel and her husband resided in Oklahoma City since 1931. She attended public schools in Mustang and Chickasha Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma College for Woman in Chickasha. Ethel served as secretary of the Oklahoma City Marriage Family Counseling Clinic for several years. She was PTA president for three years at Lee Elementary School. She was a Sunday School and WMU Circle teacher at Capitol Hill and Exchange Avenue Baptist Churches for many years. She was District Manager for Field Enterprises Educational Materials and served as office manager for Dr. Kent Osteen's dental office. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; her parents; one brother, Russell Frank; and three sisters, Violet Jones, May Foreman, and Oleta Fitzgerald. Survivors include, one son, George Kent Osteen and wife Carrol Wall; one daughter Marlene and husband Robert Leahey; four grandchildren, Gregory Osteen and wife Janet, Gary Osteen and wife Marianne, Donna Leahey, Robert Leahey and wife Maria; eight great grandchildren, Alex Wright, Cameron and Garrison Osteen, Megan, Cody, and Jenny Osteen, Rebekah and Brogan Leahey. Funeral Services: Friday January 26, 2007 at the Exchange Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Memorial Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The Family would like to express their thanks to all of Ethel's care providers and especially to Nancy Heath, and the employees and staff of Hospice of Oklahoma County for all of the love and care that they provided for Ethel. |
