Agapito Mata Olmos
July 15, 1940 ~ April 13, 2006

Graveside services for Agapito Mata Olmos, 65, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2006, in the Fairlawn Cemetery, with David Castro officiating.

Agapita Mata Olmos was born July 15, 1940, in El Nogalito Queretaro Mexico, the son of Juan Mata and Ramona Olmos.

He died Thursday April 13, 2006, in Oklahoma City.

Agapito grew up in Mexico. In 1957, he married Juana Rosas, in El Nogalito, Mexico. He came to the United States as a young man, residing in Texas. In his early thirty's he moved to Oklahoma, where he later met and married Sandra Hunter, in 1977.

He was a cook for several restaurants in the Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas area.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking, and reading, but his true passion was playing pool.

He spent uncountable hours shooting pool, and if he wasn't at the pool hall playing he was usually watching it somewhere. He was preceded in death by both parents; son, Wbaldo Mata; daughter, Juana Mata; and one sister, Maria Dolores.

He is survived by his wife, Juana Rosas, of Mexico; six daughters: Maria Cosme Mata, Norda Hilda Mata, and Veronica Mata, of Mexico, and Angelica Gonzalez, Maria Ortega, and Melissa Salazar, of Chickasha; three sons: Wbaldo Mata and Julian Mata, of Mexico, and Agapito Mata, Jr., of Chickasha; three brothers: Roberto Mata, Geronimo Mata, and Juan Mata; three sisters: Carmella Mata, Pompella Mata, and Isidira Mata; twenty five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
