Odoms, age 80, of Chickasha, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2004, in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Rev. John Smith of Lexington, Oklahoma, Officiated. Billy was born the son of Robert Odoms and Daisy Holder Odoms on March 3, 1923, in Chickasha. He died on January 23, 2004, in Chickasha. Billy grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. In his early years he helped his father with plaster and concrete work. He also worked in oil and gas-related areas. Most of his life, Billy worked as a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. He retired in 1989, after thirty-two years of service. During this time, he served Chickasha with a perfect attendance record. Billy loved to hunt, fish, and observe wildlife. He also loved family gatherings filled with storytelling and eating ice cream. But most importantly, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his extended family through Virgil H. Sparks. Services were under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. "One of a Kind" A letter carrier by trade And with blue eyes that didn't fade Serving people on his route And with first class service, no doubt Telling stories, he spent his time As long as he had someone to listen he was fine Oil and gas was a hobby is loved Watching squirrels on the ground and the birds above We'll miss you down here, dear old friend. But Billy O, we'll see you again. |
