John Stanley Moddrell
June 25, 1970 ~ March 7, 2009


Funeral Services for our beloved John Stanley Moddrell, 38, of Chickasha, will be held at Pastor Kim Hayes' Bible Baptist Church, 226 S. 29th St., Chickasha, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009.

John Stanley Moddrell was born June 25, 1970. He died of a massive asthma attack on March 7, 2009.

John graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1989 where he was a four-year starter on the varsity wrestling team. Wrestled for Central Missouri State University from 1990 to 1991. He was an All American as a true freshman and was inducted into the Central Missouri State University "Hall of Fame" last summer. He wrestled for University of Oklahoma from 1992 to 1994.

John had been a resident of Chickasha for the last nine-and-a-half years, working mostly for his parent's family owned business, Moddrell's Chickasha Honda.

John was the extremely proud parent of two children. Being a father to his children was his most cherished and greatest accomplishment. He adored his children and they adored him.

John was preceded in death by his brother, Jimbo Moddrell and his uncle Moe Moddrell.

John is survived by his two children, Johne C. Moddrell and Jaedn S. Moddrell; his parents Gary and Bonnie Moddrell; his sister, Julie and her husband Josh Longanacre and their twin sons, Clint and Coby; uncle, Bobby Rowe; Aunt, Dr. Gwen Moddrell; special friend, Christina Benavides; much extended family and numerous friends.

We love you John and will miss you terribly for the rest of our lives. Thank you for being such a great dad, brother, son and friend. You are one of a kind. [Jesus said,] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
