Beulah Estelle "Bea" [Buckner] McKee
May 24, 1908 ~ May 14, 2005

Beulah {Bea" Estelle Buckner McKee was born May 24, 1908 in Octibbeha County, Mississippi and passed away peacefully on May 14, 2005. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Fairlawn Cemetery, North Highway 81, Chickasha.

She was the sixth child of Henry Madison Buckner and Fannie Estelle Brooks. Her parents and one sister, Verona and her brothers, Fonso, Leroy, Charlie and Dean have all passed on before her. Remaining are two sisters, Florene Cole of Huston, Texas and Hazel Shellito also of Houston, Texas, formerly of Chickasha.

Beulah married Marlin Bernard McKee on February 19, 1930 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. They had no children of their own. They remained married until his death in 1969 of a heart attack. At that time, they were living north of Chickasha on a farm they both managed.

Beulah was an active member and supporter of the First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha and served the church in various capacities. She was also a participating member of several social and civic clubs as well as an active supporter of her friends and neighbors. Contributing to the Home Demonstration Cook Book with many of her tried and delicious recipes was her joy and delight. All members of the family received a copy when a new one was produced. Not only did she contribute to the cookbook, but shared her homemade food with all who knew her.

In 1999, Beulah became ill with several problems and moved to Houston, Texas where she resided in Garden Terrace of Houston for five years. She was supported there by her sister, Florene Cole, her niece, Carlene Foster and daughter, Debora Simmons and nephews Ralph and James Cole. Two years later, her sister Hazel Shellito, joined her at Garden Terrace and they were roommates from that time until Beulah's passing on May 14, 2005, just ten days short of her 97th birthday.

She is survived by her sisters, Florene Cole and Hazel Shellito; a niece, Carlene Foster [Houston] and her children Debora Simmons [Pearland, Texas] and Lee Foster [Austin, Texas]; a nephew, Ralph Cole and his wife Martha [Houston] and their daughter, Vanessa; [Dallas] a nephew James Cole and his wife Marietta and their two children, Lori and Josh [Kingwood, Texas] and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many good friends too numerous to mention.

Instead of flowers, Bea would be pleased if contributions were made to the First Presbyterian Church.
