© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Saturday, December 12, 2009 April 14, 1944 ~ December 09, 2009 Funeral services for Stella Bernice McElreath, 65, of Chickasha, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Bernice McElreath was born April 14, 1944, in Chickasha, the daughter of Verona Woodrow Scott and Marget Kathleen [Jenkins] Scott. She died Wednesday, December 09, 2009, in Oklahoma City. Bernice grew up in the Amber area where she attended Amber Schools. She married Allen McElreath on December 15, 1978, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She had been a homemaker most of her life and had owned and operated the Scotts Mini-Stop at 6th and Choctaw from 1980 to 1995 when she retired. Bernice enjoyed genealogy, collecting all kinds of miniature items including lighted houses, particularly Snow Village and movies. Her favorite activity that she looked forward to every year was the Scott Family Reunion because her family including her extended family was very precious to her. She was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Vernon Scott; two infant sons: Monty Landon Perkins and Tony Alan Perkins; two infant grandsons: Timothy David Stewart and Jake Warren. She leaves behind her husband, Allen McElreath, of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Monica [Perkins] Stewart and husband Tommy of Chickasha; daughter, Theresa [Perkins] Warren of Blanchard; step-son Zane McElreath and wife, Rena of Chickasha; step-daughter, Gaye [McElreath] Pedigo and husband J.R. of Granbury, Texas; nine grandchildren: Christopher Stewart, Lauren Stewart, Nathan Stewart, Gene Jones, James McElreath, Troy McElreath, Alina McElreath, Travis Pedigo, Ryan Pedigo and her special exchange granddaughter, Karly Ayala of Venezuela; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Leon and June Scott of Duncan, Leroy and Sonja Scott of Tuttle; and much extended family and numerous friends. Interment was held in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
