© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, June 22, 2007 September 16, 1920 ~ June 20, 2007 Funeral service for Jaunita McDonald, age 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2007, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Jaunita was born September 16, 1920, in Waurika, OK, the daughter of Henry Clay Brown and Alice McGuire Brown. She passed away on June 20, 2007, in Chickasha after a lengthy illness. She was raised throughout Oklahoma and Missouri. The majority of her childhood was spent with her paternal grandmother, Gertrude "Gran" Brown. Jaunita attended Beauty School in Oklahoma City in the early 40's after graduation from Chickasha High School. She worked in shops around Chickasha including Mrs. Garrison's from 1942 to 1943 and The Flight from 1943 to 1955. At that time she opened her own shop in her home where she worked until her retirement in 1994. She married Lee McDonald on August 22, 1943, in Oklahoma City. They were married for 51 years before Lee preceded her in death on October 27, 1994. They had been faithful members of Holy Name Catholic Church. Mrs. McDonald was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Gertrude Brown, a great grandson, Benjamin Clarke, her parents, and one sister. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Phillip Edelblute of Chickasha, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jennifer and Lee Clarke of Tampa, FL, granddaughter, Jessica Edelblute of Cape Cod, MA, and great- grandson, Elijah Clarke. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. |
