© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Wednesday, September 23, 2009 March 8, 1932 ~ September 20, 2009 Graveside service for Bernard "Bernie" Mathos, age 77 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, in Fairlawn Cemetery. Brother Jeff Atwell will officiate and Alvin "Tarzan" Williams will assist. Bernie was born the son of Otto J. Mathos and Gertrude Gillespie Mathos on March 8, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He passed away surrounded by his family on September 20, 2009, in Chickasha. He married Marie Simpson on January 30, 1960, in Chickasha. Bernie was a member of the Church of the Brethren; the Chickasha Masonic Lodge #94; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of Manhattan, Kansas; the Shriners of Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Survivors include: Wife: Marie Mathos of Chickasha, Son and Wife: Bob and Renee Mathos of Wamego, Kansas, Son: Tony Mathos of Chickasha, Son and Wife: Jon and Sheila Mathos of St. George, Kansas, Five Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren and Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
