Massey, 83, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Asa Massey was born May 4, 1925 in Chickasha the son of Asa Massey Jr and Vivian F. Elgin Massey. He died May 17, 2008 in Oklahoma City. Asa grew up in Chickasha graduating from Chickasha High School in 1943, where he was active in FFA and football. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Belleau Woods during World War II. After returning home from the war he met Louella G. Vogel. They were united in marriage on May 28, 1948 in Chickasha. Asa's work in the oilfield took him and Louella many places nationally and internationally. After forty two years in the oil field he retired from Chevron in 1990. After retirement he enjoyed his time farming, working cattle and most of all the Bar B Q cook outs with his family. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion and the 1st Christian Church. Asa is preceded in death by both parents, and wife Louella. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws: Kenneth and Jane Massey of Weatherford and Ralph and Cindy Massey, of Edmond ; Sister Gwen Eisenhour, of Tucson , AZ ; granddaughters and spouses: Azurde` and Robert Jump, of Duncan , Kendra and Terry Wyatt, of Duncan, Jennifer, Jessica, and Cassidy Massey, all of Edmond; Great-grandchildren: Colton and Hunter Jump and Kenneth Blake Wyatt, all of Duncan. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |

Massey, 80, of Chickasha, will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Don Gibson of the First Christian Church officiating. Louella Georgia Massey was born April 3, 1924, in El Reno, Oklahoma the daughter of George W. Vogel and Anna M. Weise Vogel. She died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at her home in Chickasha. Louella grew up on the family farm near Union City, Oklahoma, where she attended grade school. As she began Junior High School, she attended Pocasset Public Schools, graduating from high school there in 1942. After high school graduation she attended the Oklahoma College For Women, now U.S.A.O. in Chickasha. She was employed with the Borden General Hospital during WW II and later with Mulligan Abstract Company. Louella married Asa J. Massey on May 28, 1948, in Chickasha. She and Asa spent many years living in different areas, including Louisiana, Texas and Coppenhagan, Denmark, due to his position in the oil fields. They returned to Chickasha in 1996. Louella was a member of the First Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially cooking big family dinners for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Lorene Martha Vogel. Survivors include her husband, Asa, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth D and Jane Massery, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Ralph P. and Cindy Massey, of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Lilas Shipp, of Oklahoma City; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Betty Vogel, of Claremore, Oklahoma, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
