© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Tuesday, August 1, 2006 April 28, 1939 ~ July 29, 2006 Funeral service for Murrell Ray Martin, age 67, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at the Verden First Baptist Church. Rev. William Embrey will officiate and Rev. Johnny Wray will assist. Murrell Ray Martin was born the son of William Henry Martin and Pearl Arminda Martin on April 28, 1939, in Minco, Oklahoma. He died on July 29, 2006, in Chickasha. Murrell grew up in the Chickasha area and married Wanda Long in March of 1958. They lived many places in Oklahoma as Murrell worked as a welder in the oilfields and as a pastor at various churches. In the early 1980s, he moved to eastern Oklahoma where he lived until returning to Chickasha in 2003. Murrell was a member of the Tabler Gospel Tabernacle where he was the assistant minister. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Martin, his son, Danny Martin, his parents, William & Pearl Martin, one brother, Alvin Martin, one sister, Frances Martin, three half-brothers, and three half-sisters. He is survived by: daughter: Sandra Murray of Elk City; son: Jack Martin of Verden: son: Will Martin of Oklahoma City; daughter: Melanie Sixkiller of Jay; brother: James Martin of Cement; brother: Clifford Martin of Yukon; brother: Bill Martin of Foster; brother: Noel Martin of Wewoka; brother: Charles Martin of Choctaw; brother: Roy Martin of Rush Springs; half-brother: Earl Ware of Oklahoma City; half-brother: J. L. Ware of Eufala; half-brother: Robert Ware of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
