August 13, 1931 ~ October 1, 2013


Funeral services for Donald Ray Martin, 82, of Chickasha will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Donald Ray Martin was born August 13, 1931, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Spencer and Irene Martin. He passed from this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Don was a 1949 graduate of Dallas Crozier Tech High School. After high school, he returned to Chickasha and began working in the automobile business. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He purchased his first automobile dealership in Perry, Oklahoma in 1962, and then returned to Chickasha owning and operating the Chevrolet-Cadillac dealership until his retirement in 1986. Don served on the Board of Directors for First National Bank and Trust in Chickasha for thirty-eight years.

He was preceded in death by both parents.

Survivors include: Joyce Martin, his wife of sixty-three years, children; La Donna Jo Martin of Chickasha, OK, Sondra Martin Hicks and son-in-law Steve of Richmond, Texas and Donald Ray Martin, Jr. of Edmond, OK, grandchildren; Ashley Fincher, Chelsea Hicks, Christian Fincher, Kaci Hicks and Joshua Hicks, sisters; Beverly Pierce and Carolyn Sue Bilbrey and brother-in-law Garland Bilbrey and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
