Malcom, 93 former Chickasha resident, were held Thursday, September 15, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at the Fairlawn Cemetery, North of Chickasha. Rev. Eddie Critchfield of the Southern Heights Baptist Church in El Reno officiated under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco. Hazel S. Malcom was born December 4, 1911 at Oklahoma City to J.J., Jr. and Beatrice [Strever] Starkey and died Friday, September 9, 2005 at Van Cleave, Mississippi. She lived most of her life in Chickasha, moved to Van Cleave, Mississippi three years prior. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chickasha. Hazel graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City and later graduated with her teaching credentials from the State Teachers College in Edmond. She married Bruce A. Malcom on November 11, 1933 at Minco. She taught school in the Springcreek area and was also a homemaker. Hazel was preceded in death by, her parents: J.J. Starkey Jr. on 12-17-1968 and Beatrice Starkey on 12-16-1982; husband: Bruce A. Malcom on 1-31-1987; one daughter: Debra Sue Malcom Hudson on 5-22-1995; one sister: Elene Castillo on 8-23-1986. She is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Bruce Malcom of Van Cleave, Mississippi; two sisters: Grace and Dale Rowe of Pocasset and Lucille McComas of Chickasha; two brothers: James and Betty Starkey and Herbert Starkey all of Minco; two grandchildren: Julia Beth Malcom Stewart and Justin Bruce Malcom; eight great grandchildren. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Wednesday, October 12, 2005 December 4, 1911 ~ September 9, 2005 Graveside services for Hazel S.
