[Otey] Long October 26, 1918 ~ January 20, 2001 Funeral service for Blanche Otey Long, age 82, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2001, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edward Whitley will officiate. Blanche Otey Long was born the daughter of T.E. Otey and Gertrude White Otey on October 26, 1918, at their home west of Chickasha. She died on January 20, 2001, in Oklahoma City. Blanche grew up in the Verden area where she attended school at a country school south of Verden. After high school, she moved overseas to follow work in the oilfield industry. For twenty-five years, Blanche lived in several countries overseas before moving back to Chickasha. After her return, she met Harry Long, whom she married on September 25, 1976, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She and Harry made Chickasha their home, where they lived to this day. Blanche was a member of the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors include her husband, Harry Long of the home; sister, Ruth Talkington of Chickasha; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Bill Dill of Chickasha; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Imogene Otey of Anadarko; brother, Leonard Otey of Cement; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
