Sarah Virginia [Chafin] Little
August 6, 1913 ~ June 7, 2009


Funeral service for Sarah Virginia Little, age 95 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009, in the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Sarah Virginia was born the daughter of John Roscoe Chafin and Dixie Hatfield Chafin on August 6, 1913, in Nolan, West Virginia.

She died on June 7, 2009, in Chickasha.

Virginia grew up in Ashland, Kentucky, where she graduated from high school.

She married Howard Little in 1938. In 1950, they moved to Chickasha where she helped her husband in his chiropractic office.

Virginia was a dedicated member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and her church family. She organized the teachers for the Wedding Ring Sunday School Class. At one time she served as trustee for the church. Every where she went she was a missionary for her strong christian belief.

Virginia was a member of the American Legion and the Eastern Star. She was also the project chair for the Gifts for Yanks for over thirty-five years. Virginia started the fund-raising campaign the first year with $45.00 and in 2005 had a record breaking $5286.00 raised for Gifts for Yanks.

Virginia was a very caring and giving person. If a child was in her presence, she would always reach in her purse and bless them with a dollar. Over the years she spent thousands of dollars giving children one dollar at a time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Howard Little in 1982, her parents, three brothers, Edward, Harold and John Chafin, and one sister, Lorrain Chafin.

Survivors include: Sisters-in-law: Juanita Chafin and Geraldine Little, Niece: Carol Ann Suttles, Two Great Nephews: Bryan Rice and David Fleming, One Great Great Nephew: Shelby Rice, One Great Great Niece: Savannah Rice, Nephew: Jack Little, Nephew and Wife: Howard and Janice LittleGreat Nieces and Husbands: Sherry and John Beeson, Leighann and Phillip Hardy,Katie and Jon Dadson, Great Nephews and Wives: Shawn and Michele Little, Andrew and Lindsay Little, Seven Great Great Nephews and Nieces: Charles and Lanie, Beeson, Jack Dadson, Claire Dadson, Reagon Hardy, Kennedia Little, and Drew Little.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church and the Gifts for Yanks Program (GFY), c/o Sally Curry, P.O. Box 225, Chickasha, OK 73023.
