Parr Ledbetter, age 92 of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009, in the Verden United Methodist Church. Rev. Tollie Bibb will officiate and Rev. Sandy Shephard and Rev. Charles Watson will assist. Ellav was born the daughter of George S. "Tuff" Shephard and Nellie Hudgins Shephard on March 28, 1917, in Farm House, Custer County, Oklahoma. She passed into a better world on Sunday, September 27, 2009, in Chickasha. Ellav was a member of the Verden United Methodist Church and served on various church committees. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. While her children were in school, Ellav was active as a FFA and FHA mother and a Verden class sponsor. Ellav married Elmer Parr on July 11, 1937, in Clinton, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death in 1974. She later married Joe Ledbetter who preceded her in death as well. Ellav was also preceded in death by her daughter, Carol June Parr, granddaughter, Andrea Diane West, and two brothers, Donal and Bill Shephard. Survivors include: Son: Elmer Dale Parr of Verden, Son: Riley L. Parr of Yukon, Daughter: Sheryl A. West of Gautier, Mississippi, Brother: Cy Shephard of Yuba City, California, Brother: Frank "Jake" Shephard of Yuba City, California, Sister: Faye Hamblin of Amarillo, Texas, Sister: Ruth Gum of San Antonio, Texas, Sister: Yvonne Adams of Okemah, Seven Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Verden United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service is under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
