Harper Kiser passed away Saturday, September, 6, 2008, at the Heritage Village of Weatherford. Ruby was born June 21, 1914, at Alex, Oklahoma, to Joe Armstrong and Barbara Trojousky Armstrong. Ruby's mother died when she was 8 yrs. old and was raised by her father and grandparents. Her grandfather, Jessie T. Armstrong, served in the 1st legislative body of Oklahoma as a representative of Kiowa County, Oklahoma. She always took pride in talking about her early childhood and learned early on the importance of serving others. She married Alex Dean Harper on August 31, 1929, and to that union were born daughter, Barbara Mae, and son, Melvin Dean "Dick". She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex, on November 22, 1958, and her son, Melvin Dean "Dick", on July 30, 2003. Also, two brothers, James Everett Armstrong and George William "Bill" Armstrong. Ruby was united in marriage with Wilbur Kiser on Oct. 21, 1961, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1987. Ms. Kiser's early married life was spent as a farmer's wife, and later she worked in day care centers working with handicapped and emotionally disturbed children. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Brennan, and husband, Dale, of Lawton and her six grandchildren, Dala Melton and husband, Charlie, James Robert Brennan and wife Cathy, J.D. Brennan and wife, Katrina, and Glenn Brennan and wife, Lori, all of Lawton; Jim Harper and wife, Kathy, of the Dallas, Texas, area and John and wife, Christine Harper of Weatherford. Alongwith 16 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Also, survived by Sue [Harper] Brown, former daughter-in law, and husband, Loy Brown, of Weatherford and a very special sister-in law, Cleo Armstrong of Alex, Oklahoma. Graveside services were held September 9, 2008, in Chickasha at Fairlawn Cemetery. |
