© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma October 2, 1986 Grace Lou Truitt [Watson] King March 18, 1906 ~ October 1, 1986 Grace L. King of 1713 South 13th, Chickasha, died October 1, at the age of 80. She was born March 18, 1906 in Comanche, Okla. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 4, at 1 pm in the Brown-Binyon Chapel with Rev. Leslie G. Shearer, associate pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. She married Orval E. King on July 28, 1970 in Chickasha. Mrs. King came to Chickasha from Stephens County as a teenager. She graduated from Chickasha High School and attended the Oklahoma College for Women (now USAO), receiving a B. A. degree in history. She had taught school in Texas and in southern Oklahoma. During World War II she served as a post mistress in Carlisle, Texas. Mrs. King later lived in Healdton and returned to Chickasha in 1965. Mrs. King was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the McElhoes Sunday School class. She has served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in the United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, American Association of University of Women, Democratic Women's League, and various study clubs. Her hobbies included learning languages, painting, furniture renovation, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis H. Watson and Ozella May Smith Watson; one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Orval King of the home; one brother, L.H. Watson, Jr. of Falls Church, Va.; one sister, Maxine Plumb of Grove City, Ohio; seven nephews, and five nieces. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery under direction of Brown-Binyon Funeral Home. |
