Arvil William Killgore, 82, of Chickasha, OK, was born Mar 15, 1913, in Dibble, OK, the son of Elizabeth [Martin] and EB Killgore. He died Monday, Aug 21, 1995, in Chickasha.

Arvil married Ida Lou Ely on June 22, 1935, in Anadarko. He came to Chickasha in 1932 from Binger. He worked for Gilkey's Hardware before WWII. He served in the US Army.

After his discharge, he worked for Public Service of Oklahoma in the Warehouse, retiring in 1970. He had attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Arvil was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Alvin and Artie; and 4 sisters, Annie Killgore, Ammie Fakes, Altie Duncan, and Thelma Brown.

Survivors include wife, Ida Lou; sons and their wives, Ray and Laveda, LeRoy and Sue; daughter and her husband, Arvilla and James Merritt; sister and her husband, Audie and Albert Mash; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Ida Lou [Ely] Killgore
April 20, 1918 ~ February 9, 2010


Funeral service for Ida Lou Killgore, age 91 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bryan Haynes will officiate.

Lou was born the daughter of Jefferson Henry Ely and Elizabeth Eddy Ely on April 20, 1918, in Overbrook, Oklahoma. She died on February 9, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ida moved to Chickasha in a wagon at a young age.

She married Arvil Killgore at the age of seventeen. They made their home in Chickasha, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Ida worked at Fowlers Red Bud Grocery and later for Standard Grocery Store which became Humpty Dumpty. She retired with over forty years in the grocery business. After retiring, she worked for the Sears Catalog Store.

She was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Elizabeth Ely; husband, Arvil Killgore in 1995; son and wife, Leroy and Sue Killgore; three brothers, Ernest, Andrew and Everett.Survivors include: Son and Wife: Ray and Laveda Killgore of Oklahoma City, Daughter and Husband: Arvilla and James Merritt of Agawam, Nine Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great Grandchildren, Sixteen Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Elizabeth Ely; husband, Arvil Killgore in 1995; son and wife, Leroy and Sue Killgore; three brothers, Ernest, Andrew and Everett.Survivors include: Son and Wife: Ray and Laveda Killgore of Oklahoma City, Daughter and Husband: Arvilla and James Merritt of Agawam, Nine Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great Grandchildren, Sixteen Great Great Grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
