Ruth Bernice Edington Kern died May 22, 2010. Bernice had a persevering personality that led her down life's path of spirituality, appreciation of education, and entrepreneurship. She rejoiced daily in her God-given blessings that she could share with family, friends and community.

Bernice was born June 11, 1919 in Madill, Oklahoma to Jewel and Fronnie Edington and was the eldest of eight children. With a promotion to Food Service Director, she created the Mobile School Lunch Program for the entire Chickasha Public School system. In addition to her public school service, she taught adult education classes for food service programs throughout the state of Oklahoma. As a proud grandmother she was blessed with five grandchildren: Mark Bryan of Newalla, OK, Chris Downing of Chickasha, Steve Bryan of Oklahoma City, Jason Downing of Phoenix, AZ and Stacy Middleton of Edmond, Ok.

The joys of her life were her seven great-granddaughters: Courtney, Heather, Shyloe, Jasmin, Tiffany, Zoie and Madelyne Joy.
