© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma June 24, 2004 Jewell [Mckelvy] Kendall June 13, 1915 ~ July 22, 2003 Funeral service for Jewell Kendall, 88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2003, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Jewell Kendall was born June 13, 1915, in Cooperton, Oklahoma, and died July 22, 2003, in Chickasha. Jewell was raised in Minco. She lived in Chickasha for over 60 years. She started working downtown at Montgomery Ward when it was at 519 Chickasha Avenue and then worked at the Dixie in the basement department until the basement department was closed in the late 1950s. Jewell began working for the Credit Bureau in the early 1960s retiring in 1996. She also worked for Flowers and Stuff. She and Coye Godfrey Kendall were married December 22, 1934, and he preceded her in death in 1975. Jewell was a member of the American Business Women's Association, the Associated Credit Bureau and the First Christian Church. Survivors include: 2 sons and their wives: Don and Janelle Kendall of Chickasha, Mac and Sue Kendall of Chickasha; 2 sisters: Opal Bomgardner of Chickasha, Bonnie Sue Adams of Mustang, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: J. K. McKelvey of Shreveport, Louisiana, Bill McKelvey of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, 3 grandchildren: Jeff Kendall, Sean Kendall, and Kevin Kendall; 6 great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
