Jim Sheerer will officiate. Clifton Warren Hughes was born the son of Joe Vinson and Essie McDaniel Hughes on September 15, 1926, in Calumet, Oklahoma. He died on April 14, 2009, in Chicksaha. Mr. Hughes served in the United States Navy Seebees during World War II. He was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. He was in the Barber Shop Chorus of Chickasha. He retired from Southwestern Bell Company after forty-two years of service. He was a member of the Communication's Workers of America. He coached little league baseball for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one half brother, and one half sister. Survivors include: Wife: Bonnie Hughes of Chickasha, Son and Wife: Brent and Janice Hughes of Chickasha, Daughter and Husband: Brenda and John Wright of Enid, Daughter and Husband: Belinda and Jim Adams of Chickasha, Grandchildren: Amanda Zellner and husband, Adam of Alex, Johna Wright of Enid, Brian Wright and Wife, Krystal of Enid, and Jaymes Warren Adams of Norman, Sister: Sybil Scott of Chickasha, Brother and Wife: Russell and Delores Hughes of Edmond, Sister-in-law: Allene Hughes of Blanchard, Several Nieces and Nephews. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
September 2016 Bonnie Rae [Criswell] Hughes July 15, 1930 ~ September 12, 2016 Funeral service for Bonnie Rae [Criswell] Hughes, age 86 of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Jack Jerman will officiate. Mrs. Hughes was born to Ray and Pauline [Miller] Criswell on July 15, 1930 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She passed on September 12, 2016 in Chickasha. She married Clifton W. Hughes on September 3, 1949 in Sherman, Texas. They moved to Chickasha in 1951 when Clif was transferred with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. All three of their children were born in Chickasha and when their youngest child started school she went to work at JC Penneys and then worked for Chickasha High School until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Southern Oaks Church of Christ. She loved her family and always enjoyed her grandchildren Bonnie was survived by her children: Brent and wife Janice Hughes of Chickasha, Brenda and husband John Wright of Enid and Belinda and husband Jim Adams of Chickasha; grandchildren: Amanda Hughes, Johna Wright, Brian and wife Krystal Wright, and Jay and wife Lauren Adams; great grandchildren: Peyton Michael Hughes, Makenna Marie Wright, Peyton Olivia Wright, Melissa Rae Adams; brothers: Paul and wife Ann Criswell, Jack and wife Mary Lou Criswell, sister Caroline Smith, sister in law Sybil Scott, brother and sister in law Russell and Deloris Hughes, sister in law Allene Hughes and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clifton W Hughes, brother Bill and wife Millie Criswell, sister Patricia and husband Charles Massey, and brothers in law, Keith Smith, Everett Hughes, Clyde Hughes, and Virgil Scott. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Chickasha, Oklahoma May 8, 2001 Michael Dee Hughes March 28, 1938 ~ May 6, 2001 Funeral services for Michael Dee Hughes, 63, of Chickasha, will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. in the New Life Christian Church, with Gary Layman officiating and Charles Roberts assisting. Michael Dee Hughes was born March 28, 1938, in Cement, Oklahoma, the son of Hugh Hughes and Willa Moody Hughes. He died Sunday, May 6, 2001, in Chickasha. Mike came to Chickasha with his family as a young man, where he attended Chickasha Public Schools and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1956. He married Patsy June Werthen on October 23, 1961, in Chickasha. After graduation, Mike joined the United States Army. He retired in January 1977 after serving twenty-years. During his military service, he served in Vietnam, Korea, Germany and Okinawa. Mike returned to Chickasha after his military retirement and had been employed as a Systems Support Specialist, with Hollytex of Anadarko, Haliburton in Duncan, and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha. His last employment of nineteen years was with the City of Oklahoma City, where he retired due to health problems. He was a member of the New Life Christian Church. Mike was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters, Betty Keeton and Pat Samples. Survivors include his wife Patsy, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Kirk Stanley, Sheila and Jerry Layman, all of Chickasha, and Michelle and Eric Green, of Cyril; four grandchildren, Erika Stanley and Steven Layman, both of Chickasha, and Taylor and Courtney Green, both of Cyril; one brother, Robert Hughes, of Texas; his father-in-law, Mettie Werthen, of Chickasha; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the New Life Christian Church, P.O. Box 1807, Chickasha, Oklahoma, 73023. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |

He was born to the late Hughlin and Dortha Hughes on September 5, 1940 in Magazine Mountain, Ark. Moody graduated from Wolfforth Texas High School in 1959. He married Diane Lynn Graham in 1966, and they lived together in Lubbock, Texas before relocating to Oklahoma City in 1970 and then Tuttle in 1973.< Moody owned several businesses throughout his life, most notable Hughes Distributing in Oklahoma City. He had a passion for life and zeal that was obvious in his love of music and his passion for his work. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Moody was procedded in death by his father, Hughlin and his mother Dortha as well as his brother Jerry. He is survived by his wife, Diane, of the home in Tuttle; brothers George and his wife Lynn of La Veta, Colo., H. T. and his wife Carol of Burleson, Texas and Robert and his wife Branda of Lubbock, Texas and one sister Margaret Herring of Lake Whitney, Texas. Moody is also survived by five children and nine grandchildren: Ross of Oklahoma City and his dauhters Jenalee and Rachel, Lisa Hughes~Woods of Tuttle and her children Dawn and Ryan, Randy and his wife Ann and their daughter Katie of Fresco, Texas, Byron and his wife Kristi of Tuttle and their children Austin and Aubree and Lara Hughes~Douglas and her sons Benny and Caden of Tuttle. He is also survived by two great grandchildren Ryan and Maddox. A viewing was Wednesday at Sevier Funeral Home in Tuttle. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Church of Christ, 404 SW 3rd Street, Tuttle, OK at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, officiated by Garell Kidd with interment following at Fairview Cemetery. |

Brandie lived in Moore practically all of her life and attended public school there. She was a member of the state championship softball team with the Moore Lady Lions. She was also a member of the DECA at Moore High School. She graduated from Moore High School in 2006. She was preceded in death by father, Jimmy Keith Hughes; great- grandparents, Ruby and Guy Brown; and great-grandmother, Thelma Russell. Survivors include mother and stepfather, Marsha and James Hodges of Moore, Okla.; sister, Chelsie Hughes of Moore, Okla.; half brother, Dillion Hughes; stepbrother, Andrew Hodges; stepbrother, Jordan Hodges; grandmother, Patsy Holstein of Pilot Point, Texas; grandparents, Pete and Frances Brown of Moore, Okla.; grandparents, Alice and Joe Hughes of Bowie, Texas; great-grandfather, Jodie Sevier of Chickasha; and great-grandmother, Virginia Sevier of Chickasha.
