© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Tuesday, January 2, 2007 August 9, 1918 ~ December 30, 2006 A celebration of life for Virginia Howard, 88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2007 at The Bible Baptist Church of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mary Virginia Lee Fields was born August 9, 1918 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma the youngest child of William Fields and Leona Yeary Fields. Virginia grew up in the Hawkins and Alex communities and graduated from Alex High School in 1936 and attended Oklahoma College for Women. She retired from the B. F. Goodrick Co. where she was the first female Credit & Operations Manager in the company's history. She was a charter member of the local chapter of The American Business Women's Associatuion and was their Woman of the Year in 1977. Virginia was an avid swimmer and attended the Senior Citizens Swimming Class for 23 years. Virginia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Hawkins Free Will Baptist Church when she was 13 and spent the last 75 years serving Him and was a servant to everyone she met. She was an active member of Bible Baptist Church. Virginia married W. M. "Moody" Smith on February 4, 1939 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They had three sons, Dan, Jimmy, and John. Moody preceded her in death on June 3, 1976. She married Robert "Dan" Howard on December 5, 1986. Vuirginia was also preceded in death by: Her parents: brothers: Curtis, Ed, Fred, Clyde, Ray, Bill, and John; sisters: Eva and Eula; great grandson: Tyler Lane Johnson. She is survived by: Husband: Dan Howard of the home; sons: Dan and wife Valetta Smith of Lebanon, Oregon; Jim and wife Kathy Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; John and wife Gina Smith of Chickasha; adopted children" Jack and Jane Jones of Chickasha; stepson: Paul Howard and wife Carolyn of San Diego, California; grandchildren: Billy Smith, Kristy Smith, Tonya Smith, Jimmy Smith, Jr., Holly Parrish, and Abbey Beesley; step-grandchildren: Danny Howard, Mandy Andrade, Mandi Carpenter, Jared Cochran, Braeden Cochran; great grandchildren: Demmis Smith, Stephanie Smith, Cash Parrish and Ella Beesley. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
