Samuel Wiley Horton
July 1, 1917 ~ August 4, 2009


Funeral service for Samuel W. Horton, age 92 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel.

Samuel Wiley Horton was born the son of Walton and Ethel Horton on July 1, 1917, in Hollis, Oklahoma.

He passed away on August 4, 2009, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha.

Sam proudly served his country for two years in the combat infantry division of the United States Army during World War II.

He then became a minister of 30 years in the Assembly of God Church at Phoenix, Arizona, Lubbock, Texas, and San Diego, California. Sam also worked in an auto detail shop in Huntington Beach, California for 15 years. He retired in Chickasha. Sam was a volunteer chaplain at Grady Memorial Hospital in 1991 and 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Ethel Horton and first wife, Inez Mary Horton of 54 years.

Survivors include: Wife of 17 years: Carolyn E. Horton of the home, Three Step Children: Mike and Patti Culver of Grove, Jim and Kathi White of Oklahoma City, and Richard Keys of Mustang, Five Step Grandchildren, Five Step Great Grandchildren, Son: Sam Ernest Horton of California, Son: Daryl and Esther Horton of Springfield, Missouri, Grandchildren: Julie, Nancy, and David Horton.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Viewing will begin Saturday.
