Oliver Harris was born October 10, 1915, in Alex, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Elizabeth "Badge" [Fitzpatrick] Harris, and died Friday, November 21, 2003, in Chickasha. Mr. Harris lived in Grady County all of his life. He worked in the oil field and later worked as a carpenter with his son, Ray Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Fern Harris, December 4, 1995. Survivors include: 4 sons and their wives: Ray and Janet Harris, Tommy and Rita Harris, Jerry and Mandy Harris, Freddie and Kay Harris; 3 daughters and their husbands: Leta and Dan Holt, Janet and Bill Bradley, Tina and Jim Davis: 22 grandchildren: 28 great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha Oklahoma July 25, 2008 - July 27, 2008 Edna Mae [Morris] Harris May 5, 1917 ~ July 17 2008 Graveside service for Edna Mae [Morris] Harris, 91, of Greenwood, Arkansas, former Chickasha resident, will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha. Edna Mae [Morris] Harris was born May 5, 1917 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Arthur and Anna [Jones] Morris and left this earth for a more peaceful one on the 17th of July, 2008 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was a graduate of the 1935 class of Chickasha High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Anna Morris of Chickasha, husband Ernest R. Harris and son Ernest Lee Harris, both of Norman, OK, brothers J.C. Morris of Los Angeles, D.O. Morris of Chickasha, and sister Merle Dean Brown of Chickasha. Ms. Harris is survived by daughter Peggy Williams and husband Miles of Greenwood, Arkansas, and sister Jewell Brooks of Santa Fe, New Mexico.(formally of Duncan) She has 10 grandchildren, 12 great and 7 great-great grandchildren. She also has several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha Oklahoma Wednesday, November 23, 2005 George Harris September 24, 1922 ~ November 24, 2005 Funeral service for George Harris, ate 83, of Chickasha, will be held on Monday, November 28, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at the Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Kim Hayes will officiate. Mr. Harris was born the son of Lee Harris and Bessie Lyda Harris, on September 24, 1922, in Saint Jo, Texas. He died on November 24, 2005, in Chickasha. George married Betty Sikes on March 4, 1945. Soon after their marriage, he entered the U.S. Army and served during WW II. After returning from military service, he and Betty moved to Chickasha. He worked as a service station attendant for many years, then owned and operated Fisherman's Service Station. George also drove a truck cross country and worked as a mechanic. George also loved to fiddle and play his guitar and harmonica. He also enjoyed going to auctions and swap meets. He especially loved his family and enjoyed driving them around sight seeing. George was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include: Wife: Betty Harris of the home; Son: George Harris of Chickasha; Daughter & husband: Carolyn & Bill Eisman of Moore: Son & wife: Jerry & Tonya Harris of Chickasha; Son & wife: Clyde & Kathy Harris of Chickasha; Daughter & husband: Linda & Tommy Lee of Chickasha; Daughter & husband: Sharon & Ray Pena of Chickasha; Son: Steve Harris of Chickasha; Sister & husband: Wilma & Harlis Sales of Chickasha; Twenty Grandchildren; Forty-four Great-Grandchildren. Douglas Eugene "Gene" Harris was born August 17, 1931 in Murray, Kentucky and died April 21, 2005 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mr. Harris was a truck driver for 47 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Cynthia Harris. Survivors include special friend, Betty Hall of Chickasha; three sons, Kenny Harris and wife, Mary of Norge, Oklahoma, David E. Harris of Chickasha, and Jerry Harris of Chickasha; one daughter, Barbara Bell and husband, Lonnie, of Verden; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Art Harris and wife, Virginia of Kentucky and Jack Harris and wife Margret of Lawton, Oklahoma; stepchildren, Leah Ryans of the home; Brenda Mink and husband of Alex, Oklahoma, Albert Ryans of Chickasha, Kay White and husband of Amber; and seven step-grandchildren. © The Clinton Daily News Clinton, OK November 26, 2005 Kenneth Earl Harris February 14, 1934 ~ November 24, 2005 Harris services set Funeral services for Clinton businessman Kenneth Earl Harris, age 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home on West Modelle Avenue in Clinton with Rev. Wendall Folsom and Royce Stephens officiating. Harris died Thursday, November 24, 2005, at the Grace Living Center in Clinton of complications from diabetes. He was born on February 14, 1934 in Anadarko, the son of James and Evelyn [Eisenman] Harris. Growing up in Anadarko, he graduated from high school in 1952. On August 24, 1955 he married Faye Briscoe in Wichita Falls, Texas. They made their home in Anadarko, and Harris went to work for Safeway Stores in Chickasha, transferring to Clinton in 1969. In 1971 he went into business for himself, opening Quick Shop Stores where he was working at the time of his death. On November 23, 1985 he married Arleen Babb. He was a member of the High Steppers Square Dancers of Hydro, the Western Swing Square Dancers of Elk City, First Baptist Church and Clinton Chamber of Commerce. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were a sister, Bessie Louise Pedigo; and two brothers, Jackie Junior Harris and Bobby Joe Harris. Burial will conclude in the Fairlawn Cemetery at Chickasha. Survivors include his companion, Rose Noles of Oklahoma City; daughters, Pam Smith and her husband, Norman, of Clinton, Belinda Choplin and her husband, Troy, of Glencoe; four grandchildren, Kenny Smith of Clinton, Brad Smith of Tulsa, Troy Choplin, Jr. of Glencoe, Crystal Stephens of Orlando, Okla.; and three great grandchildren, Randy and Eliza Stephens and Karson Smith. |
