James Arthur "Jimmie" Glass
August 21, 1927 ~ July 13, 2004


Funeral service for James Arthur "Jimmie" Glass, 76, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Chickasha.

James Arthur "Jimmie" Glass was born August 21, 1927, in Petrolia, Texas, to William Grover Glass and Alta Ann Patterson Glass, and died July 13, 2004, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jim married Alecia June Lee on March 17, 1945, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He entered the U.S. Navy in November of 1945 and was honorably discharged June, 1946.

The Glasses settled in the Ninnekah community in 1946, at which time Jim started trucking, first with a dump truck and through the years up to 18 rigs on the road. In 1981 Jim added an R.V. business to the mix. Though busy with his business, Jim had time to serve on the Ninnekah Board of Education and Ninnekah City Council for over thirty years. He was an honorary FFA member and contributor to the FFA program for many years. Jim was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah for many years and most recently the First Baptist Church of Chickasha. He taught Sunday School both at Ninnekah and Chickasha. He was a member of the Chickasha Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, June Glass of the home; one daughter and her husband, Deb and Jim Berry of Ninnekah; one son and his wife, Danny and Gay Glass of Agawam; five grandchildren, Nicona Berry Nelson and husband Joe Bob of Chickasha, Judson Berry and wife Delanie of Ninnekah, Christy Lee and husband Kevin of Moore, Joshua Glass and Medea Glass both of Oklahoma City; and six great grandchildren.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Research.

Services for Herman N. Givens, 61, of Tulsa, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the First Baptist Church, 328 W. Colorado. Rev. C.T. Shannon will officiate.

Herman N. Givens was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Chickasha, and died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in Tulsa.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Christian Funeral Home.
