George Woodrow Dodson was born June 7, 1914, in Scott, Okla., and died on Friday, November 1, 2002, in Amber. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma November 4, 2002 George Woodrow Dodson June 7, 1914 ~ November 1, 2002 Funeral services for George Woodrow Dodson, 88, of Amber, were held Monday, November 4, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Amber, with Floyd Westfall officiating and Craig Long assisting. George Woodrow Dodson was born June 7, 1914, in Scott, Oklahoma, the son of Alva Dodson and Ada Boswell Dodson. He died Friday, November 1, 2002, in Amber. George grew up in Scott, Oklahoma, near Hinton, Oklahoma, and graduated from Hinton High School. After high school graduation, George was an auto and machinery mechanic in the Hinton area. He later went into farming and farmed in and around the Yukon and Hinton areas before coming to Amber, Oklahoma, in 1961. George farmed northeast of Amber for many years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Amber Lions Club and a member of the First Methodist Church in Yukon. He attended the First Baptist Church in Amber. George was especially fond of soil conservation ideas and had son many trophies and awards through the Soil Conservation Office for his efforts in soil conservation. He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers and five sisters. Survivors include his wife, DeLois, of the home; daughter and son- in-law, Sandra and Anthony Eden, of Chickasha; three grandsons and their wives, Kevin and Ann Hansens, of Amber, Jason and Rinda Eden, of Gracemont, Jared Eden, of Anadarko; one granddaughter and her husband, Kami and Craig Wahl, of Luther; two great granddaughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Eric Smith, of Amber, Jessica and Jason Malon of Chickasha; one great great grandson, Hunter Malon, of Chickasha and many nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
© Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma January 7 ~ 9, 2009 DeLois [Fowler] Dodson Funeral services for DeLois Dodson, 87, of Amber, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 9, 2009, in the Amber First Baptist Church. DeLois Dodson was born May 12, 1921, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of John and Alpha [Nutt] Fowler. She died Monday, January 5, 2009, at her home in Amber. She grew up in Hinton, Oklahoma where she attended and graduated from Hinton High School. DeLois married the love of her life, George Dodson, on December 16, 1938, in Union City, Oklahoma. They had 64 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on November 1, 2002. DeLois and George moved to the Amber area in 1961 where they farmed and ranched at the Bitter Creek Ranch. She was a hard worker and helped George on the ranch as well as cared for her home and children. She loved to cook and she enjoyed sharing her gourmet meals with everyone. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Bitter Creek Home Demonstration Club and the First Baptist Church of Amber. DeLois was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; two brothers: Don Fowler and John Fowler Jr.; and a sister, Wilma Adkins. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
