Funeral service for Mildred L. DeHart, 87, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha.

Mildred L. DeHart was born March 18, 1917 and died January 31, 2005.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

'I have fought the good figit, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith.' The celebration service for the life of Mildred Lucille DeHart, 87, recently of Edmond, will be held February 3, 2005 at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Chickasha.

Mildred Lucille [Hickman] DeHart was born on March 18, 1917 in Alva, OK. She was the daughter of Rev. A. B. Hickman and Nellie Elizabeth [Duding] Hickman and departed this life January 31, 2005 in the home of her caring and loving children, Dwain and Sylvia Boothe, Edmond.

Mildred moved to Chickasha at the age of 16 to attend Oklahoma College for Woman. At age 17, she married Clyde Martin DeHart on June 10, 1934 at Prague, OK. Five children were born to this union. After her fifth child started school, she returned to OCW, now USAO, and graduated with high honors in 1960. During her professional career, she taught in the Chickasha Public School System, Kindergarten at the First Baptist Church and before retiring, served as an assistant librarian at USAO for 10 years.

Mildred deeply loved her family, her church and her many friends. She was an avid reader. She faithfully and accurately worked crossword puzzles, sent e-mail to her friends and family and loved to play Rummikub. During her 71 years in Chickasha, she belonged to several community organizations. She was most fond of the 1938 Study Club and the Chickasha Historical Society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha from 1934 to 2004 and, more recently, Quail Springs Baptist Church, OKC. During her 70 years at the First Baptist Church, she was a faithful giving member. She sang in the Worship Choir and JOY choir, was a Bible teacher, a member of Baptist Women, a mentor and a minister to the needs of others.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clyde Martin DeHart and her parents, Blake and Nellie Hickman.

Survivors include two sons, Clyde "Buddy" DeHart, Jr. and wife Kaye of Ft. Worth, Texas and Blake DeHart and wife, Sue Nelle of Decatur, Texas; three daughters: Sylvia Boothe and husband Dwain of Edmond, Nellie Miller and husband Bill of Chickasha and Betty Stamps and husband Neil of Edmond; grandchildren, Deborah [Debi] DeHart, Clyde [Marty] DeHart, III, and wife Deborah, Stephanie [Boothe] Miller and husband Les, Stephan Boothe and wife Sally, Jeff Boothe and wife, Sandra, Sara [DeHart] Hurst and husband Troy, Blake DeHart, Jr., Traci [Elkins] Powell and husband Jamie, Wm. "Billy" Elkins, Jr. and wife Cryss, Amy Wright, Austin Wright and Sarah Stamps. She is also blessed with 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Marg Lawson of Bartlesville; two brothers, Glenn Hickman and wife Lila of New Braunfels, Texas and Charles Hickman of Claremore; three very special sisters-in-law, Aline DeHart of Ardmore, OK, Laurelle DeHart of Modesto, CA and Mae [DeHart] Morrison of Ceres, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she adored.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier's Funeral Home.

Memorials on Mildred's behalf may be sent to the Barnabas Fund at the First Baptist Church, 324 W. Colorado Ave., Chickasha, OK 73018.
