Davis, 92, of Chickasha, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011, in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha with Kim Hayes officiating. Lela E. Davis was born on February 8, 1919, in Pink, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Samuel Carpenter and Nora Evelyn [Daley] Carpenter. She died on Thursday, October 20, 2011, in Yukon. Lela came to the Chickasha area as a young girl and attended Chickasha Public Schools. She married the love of her life, Beuren Frank Davis, on April 1, 1940, in Hollis, Oklahoma. They had many loving years raising their family together before he preceded her in death in February of 1978. Lela was a devoted wife and mother and was dedicated to making a home for their three children. Later she enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by: both parents, five brothers, one sister, and one son, Sam. Survivors include: two daughters, Karen Smith and husband Bob of Yukon, and Shirley Cochran of Chickasha; nine grandchildren, Kim Hendrix, Mike Cochran, Chris Cochran, Barry Cochran, Scott Bailey, Dale Bailey, Kenny Smith, Steve Wilmon, and Greg Wilmon; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
