Rev. Roy Mosier will officiate. Donald Ray Daugherty was born on February 11, 1938, Grandfield, Oklahoma, the son of Eugene and Imogene Bryson Daugherty. Don peacefully passed away in his home on Tuesday, February 7, 2006. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, February 10, 2006 Donald "Don" Ray Daugherty February 12, 1938 ~ February 7, 2006 Graveside service for Donald "Don" Ray Daugherty, age 67 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2006, in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Rev. Roy Mosier will officiate. Donald Ray Daugherty was born on February 12, 1938, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, the son of Eugene and Imogene Bryson Daugherty. Don peacefully passed away in his home on Tuesday, February 7, 2006. He married Betty Jean Finch on March 5, 1960 in Grandfield. They moved to Chickasha in 1961. Don started working for the Chickasha Police Department in 1965 as a patrolman. He later was promoted to head of detectives and the to Chief of Police. While working at the police department, Don started coaching his grandsons' baseball teams. He enjoyed coaching for six years. Don was instrumental in getting the present baseball field built. Don also worked at Brandt's where he met Jean Barton Snider. They were married on February 21, 1999 and made their home on the Double D Ranch outside of Chickasha. Don enjoyed life on the ranch with his animals that included horses, cows, goats and dogs. He also enjoyed his gardening. Don's sense of humor was well known and he could be counted on to help family and friends. Don was a member of the Optimist Club for approximately 13 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Betty. Survivors include: Wife: Jean Daugherty of the home; daughter: Lynda Heine of Lexington, Kentucky; son & wife: Bill & Susan Daugherty of Chickasha; daughter Melody Garner of New Boston, Texas; stepson: Logan Willis of Round Rock, Texas; stepson & wife: Dallas & Susan Willis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; stepson & wife: Clinton & Windy Willis of Modesto, California; stepson & wife: Matt & Missy Willis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepdaughter: Teri Snider of Chickasha; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; sister & husband: Shirley & Marvin Sanders of Aurora, Colorado; sister & husband: Phyllis & David Idell of Milton, Massachusetts; sister: Debbie Daugherty of Lawton; brother: David Daugherty of New Mexico. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
