In 1941 he moved to Chickasha and was employed by the Thompson Chevrolet-Cadillac Company as an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Chaney is survived by his wife, Floy Mae Chaney and three daughters, Dorothy, Venita and Sherry all of the home address; three brothers, Joe Chaney and Winfred Chaney of Chickasha, and Charles Chaney, Santa Paula, Calif. and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Moore, Fillmore, Okla. and Mrs. Marie Hurt and Mrs. Francis Danielson of Santa Paula, Calif. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 19 May 2011 Kenneth Harvey "Papa" Chaney Graveside service for Kenneth Harvey "papa" Chaney, 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha. Kenneth Harvey `Papa" Chaney was born April 2, 1924 in Fillmore, Oklahoma. He died August 2, 2010 at his home in Chickasha. Kenneth served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943-1945 during World War II. He moved to California in 1946. He met his wife of 63 years in 1946, and they were married May 12, 1947. They raised two sons and moved back to Chickasha in 1976 Kenneth worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed playing music with family and friends, especially his guitar. He was preceded in death by: Parents: Richard Chaney and Florah [Coleman] Chaney, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include: Wife: Mildred Chaney of the home, 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Sharen Chaney of Chickasha, Robert and Beth Chaney of Red Bluff, CA, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Wand Bransfield of Blanchard, OK. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ross Healthcare. |
